Professional NBA Career- Early Start (2013-2015)

Luckily, in January 2013, Sugar Land Legends selected him in the first round of the inaugural American Basketball League (ABL) draft. Following the event in September of that year, he tried out for the Austin Toros of the NBA Development League and made it to their training camp roster.
Likewise, he made it to their opening night roster, and in just 44 games, scored an average of points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. When Simmons returned to Austin in 201-15, the team had changed its name to the Spurs. San Antonio Spurs and Orlando Magic (2015-2019)
In June 2015, Simmons was named in the Brooklyn Nets’ Summer League and appeared in three games of the Orlando Summer League. After this, he was invited to join the San Antonio Spurs Summer League team in Los Vegas. Without much thought, Simmons jumped for the offer and made his debut with the Spurs on July 11, 2015, against the New York Knicks.
Jonathon’s 23 points in the League helped his team win the Championship while also earning himself the Championship Game MVP. After two days, the Spurs signed him in. However, he only made his debut with the team on November 18 against the Philadelphia 76ers.
