Jordan Haas a student athlete at Chatham University, passed away on Monday.
He majored in psychology and was a member of the men’s volleyball team.
Haas was from Erie and studied at Cathedral Preparatory School. He was also the winner of the institution’s Boys Volleyball Award in May 2023.
After finishing high school, Jordan enrolled at Chatham University and majored in Psychology.
He had represented the Chatham Cougars for two seasons, playing as a setter and an outside hitter.

It is with a heavy heart that Chatham University shares that a Chatham student, Jordan Haas, passed away on May 4, 2026.

Jordan majored in psychology and was a member of the men’s volleyball team. He was also as a beloved son, grandson, brother, and friend to many.
Receiving news like this is difficult at any time, however, Chatham understands that it can be even more difficult now that students have left campus for the summer. Despite this challenge, it is important that to continue to care for and support each other in as many ways as possible.
The Counseling Center, located on the ground level of Woodland Hall, is available for students throughout the coming days. Chatham community members can also call 412-365-1282 or email [email protected] to schedule appointments or receive community referrals as needed.

Additionally, Cathy Walkiewicz of Erie, PA, organized the fundraising campaign on GoFundMe to help Jordan’s family with funeral expenses.
The campaign aims to collect $35k, and it has already collected $27,735.
Other close ones and relatives have also offered their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to Jordan’s family to stay strong in this difficult time.
The funeral service schedule has not been officially revealed.
