The community is mourning the loss of Eugene Johnson, affectionately known as “Big Gene,” a college football player and active member of his community.

While the cause of death has not been revealed, the news has sparked an outpouring of grief from friends, relatives, and organizations whose lives he impacted.

Johnson graduated from Marian Catholic High School and Gavit High School in Calumet City, Illinois.

At Gavit High School, he showcased his athletic versatility, playing basketball as a Small Forward and Power Forward, proudly wearing jersey #40. His basketball and football achievements include.

In 2018, Johnson received a football scholarship from Judson University, where he played defensive tackle and offensive tackle.

Beyond athletics, Johnson was deeply involved in student leadership and community service.

He was the President of The Association of Collegiate Men (ACM), a senator in the student government association, a Military and Veteran Service Intern, and the owner and founder of the P.J.S. foundation.

He even ran for Homecoming Royalty in 2024. His roots were in Chicago, Illinois.

Eugene Johnson’s passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew him.
