Alyssa Boyd, a 23-year-old student-athlete from Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, and girlfriend of former Penn State and Ohio State wide receiver Julian Fleming, tragically died in an ATV accident on Friday, May 23, 2025, in Bradford County, Pennsylvania.

The accident happened around 8:13 p.m. on Painter Lick Lane in Columbia Township. Julian, 24, was driving a Yamaha ATV with Alyssa as his passenger when a deer suddenly jumped into their path, causing a collision.

Neither was wearing safety gear, according to the Pennsylvania State Police. Alyssa suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Whereas, Julian was seriously injured and taken to Guthrie Troy Community Hospital but has since been released.

Alyssa Boyd, a standout student-athlete, is survived by her parents, Thomas and Maria Boyd, and her elder brother, Ethan Boyd.

She also leaves behind her maternal grandparents, Luis and Clara Hernandez, and her paternal grandparents, George and Annette Boyd.

Alyssa was a standout athlete at Central Columbia High School, where she captained the varsity soccer team and was a starting point guard in basketball.

In her senior season in 2019, she helped her team achieve an impressive 18-3-1 record, earning state and national recognition.

Her coaches and teammates remembered her as a leader who played with heart and inspired those around her. “Alyssa was the kind of player every coach dreams of,” said one of her high school basketball coaches. “She was disciplined, humble, and made everyone better.”

Alyssa and Julian shared a deep connection, with a common ground in their love for sports and their connection to Penn State.

Friends described them as a couple who supported each other’s dreams, with Alyssa often cheering Julian on during his football games.

To honor her memory, a candlelight vigil is planned for Tuesday, May 28, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at the Bloomsburg High School soccer field.

Additionally, a memorial scholarship fund in her name has been established to support local female student-athletes.

Thus far, details surrounding Boyd’s funeral services have yet to be published by her family.

During this difficult time, we offer our heartfelt condolences to Alyssa Boyd’s parents, brother, friends, and extended family.

Rest In Peace, Alyssa Boyd!
