Julian Strawther’s parents, Lee and Lourdes Strawther, were the inspiration for Julian to play basketball. Since childhood, the parents have supported and encouraged Julian.

Unfortunately, Julian Lee Strawther’s mother, Lourdes Cordero, also known as “Cookies,” passed away due to breast cancer when Strawther was only nine years old.

After that, his father, Lee Strawther, took care of him and his two sisters, Paige and Paris Strawther.

Puerto Rican-American Julian is a college basketball player who plays as a small forward for the Gonzaga Bulldogs of the West Coast Conference (WCC).

As Corey Kispert’s backup at Gonzaga, Strawther averaged 3.4 points per game as a freshman. The team he was on earned a spot at the national championship games.

After the season, the player declared for the NBA draft in 2022 before deciding to return to Gonzaga. The small forward achieved first-team All-WCC honors in 2023.

Moreover, although Strawther is a Las Vegas native, he represents Puerto Rico at the international level to honor his mother’s Puerto Rican ancestry.

Julian Strawther’s Parents

Julian Strawther was born on April 22, 2002, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Lee and Lourdes Strawther. He grew up with two sisters, Paige, and Paris Strawther.

Strawther gives all of the credit for his success to his parents. Lee and Lourdes supported him and made him who he is right now.

Unfortunately, when the player was just nine years old, his mother died, and since then, his father has supported and taken care of all three siblings.

The name of his mother, a cross, and a breast cancer awareness ribbon were all inked on Strawther’s upper-left arm before his freshman year at Gonzaga.

In November 2021, the player talked about his mother with The Spokesman-Review. He mentioned that he was curious how his mom would react to seeing him on the national stage.

He also revealed that his mother was very supportive, and she used to scream at every little thing he used to do in basketball games.

“They’re at that stage now, and Julian just wants to make her proud,” Julian’s father, Lee, said.

Julian Strawther’s Mother-Like Sisters

Julian Lee Strawther has two older sisters, Paris, and Paige Strawther. Paige, the oldest of all, is married and has a 3-year-old son named Ace.

According to her Instagram, she is involved in the health and beauty industry. Moreover, Paige is a religious woman.

The other sister, Francesca Paris Strawther, played college basketball for UNLV. During her freshman year, she debuted in college as a lady rebel. Paris attended Liberty High School, where she was named Team MVP for three seasons and earned first-team all-state honors.

While playing for the Patriots in high school, she was a three-time Sunrise League MVP and a McDonald’s All-American nominee in her final year.

When Lourdes passed away in 2011, Paris and Paige felt they had to take on their mothers’ responsibilities, and they still keep a close eye on their younger brother.

The sisters miss their mother a lot. A backpack in the family room of Paige’s Las Vegas-area house has a camcorder. Lourdes often used that to film when the family visited Disneyland, basketball games and attended other family events.
