Katie Alison McCabe, born on 21 September 1995, is a professional Irish soccer player who plays for Arsenal in the English Women’s Super League.

In addition, she captains the Republic of Ireland women’s national team. After making her debut for Ireland in 2015, she became the country’s captain in 2017, making her the youngest captain in the team’s history.

During her teenage years, McCabe won the Irish Women’s National League title twice and the FAI Women’s Cup three times with Raheny United before joining Arsenal in 2015.

With Arsenal, she has succeeded, winning the Women’s FA Cup in 2016, the 2018–19 FA WSL league title, and being named to the 2021 PFA Team of the Year.

Recently, the soccer player became the Champion Travels’ brand ambassador.

Talking about her personal life, the professional player is open about her sexuality, being openly lesbian.

In June 2019, she disclosed her relationship with fellow player Ruesha Littlejohn and highlighted the accepting environment for LGBT individuals in women’s association football. However, the couple separated in May 2023.

Katie McCabe Siblings: Sister Lauryn McCabe

Katie McCabe’s sister, Lauryn McCabe, is one of her ten siblings who also play soccer just like her elder sister.

Lauryn, an aspiring soccer player, currently plays as a midfielder for the Shamrock Rovers WU 17.

Lauryn, at the age of 18, recently contributed to the Ireland Women’s U16s triumph in the UEFA Development Tournament held in Belgrade.

Like her older sister Katie, Lauryn has dreams of becoming a professional soccer player in the future.

Despite the age difference, the two sisters share a strong bond, and Lauryn takes great pride in her sister’s achievements.

Brother: Gary McCabe

Katie McCabe has a brother named Gary McCabe, a retired Irish soccer player who played as a winger.

Gary played for various clubs, including Bray Wanderers, Shelbourne, Sligo Rovers, and Shamrock Rovers.

He began his career with Crumlin United before joining Bray Wanderers in the 2007 season.

The Dublin-born scored his first professional goal at the age of 18 against UCD on May 29, 2007.

After signing with Silgo, he played a pivotal role in the team’s third-place finish in the 2010 season.

Also, he secured an FAI Cup winners medal when Silgo defeated Shamrock Rovers on penalties at Aviva Stadium.

When Katie was five or six, her brother Gary introduced her to soccer on the field, perhaps igniting her passion for the sport.

The McCabe family’s deep-rooted love for soccer is evident through the accomplishments of Katie, Lauryn, and Gary on the field.
