Keith Boaz, an executive director of athletic and entertainment facilities of Missouri State University, passed away on August 7, 2025, leaving his wife and two children.
His tragic news spread quickly, and top university leaders and members of the MSU Board of Governors gathered to mourn him in Branson for the initial day of a two-day board retreat.
Keith Boaz was a driving force behind Springfield’s most memorable entertainment experiences for over two decades.
He was a proud alumnus of Missouri State University and dedicated his career to enhancing the cultural and recreational life of the community.
He first joined MSU’s staff in 2003, bringing with him a deep understanding of venue operations and event planning. His early career included a role as assistant director of operations at Jordan Valley Ice Park.
After transitioning to the university, he oversaw some of Springfield’s most prominent public venues, including Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts, Hammons Student Center, Plaster Stadium, and Great Southern Bank Arena.
His untimely passing saddened the whole community, and many remembered him in their heartfelt tribute.
Keith was a beloved member of our campus community who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Throughout his tenure with us, Keith was not only dedicated to his professional responsibilities but was also deeply involved in campus life and our broader community. His commitment extended far beyond his official duties, and his positive impact was felt across our institution.

Bethany Conrad, the wife of Keith Boaz, is a dedicated mother, librarian, and avid traveler who has built a fulfilling life with her family in Springfield, Missouri.
Originally from Marionville, she has made Springfield her home, where she and Keith raised their two children, Averie and Brady.
Bethany graduated from Missouri State University and always had a passion for learning and literature.
She began working as a librarian at the Logan-Rogersville School District in August 2021, where she continues to inspire young minds through her love of books and education.
Beyond her professional life, Bethany has a deep appreciation for travel and adventure.
Her journeys have taken her to Jamaica in 2002, Germany and Italy in 2008, and Spain and France in 2012. Her travel experiences have undoubtedly enriched her perspective on the world.
We danced to Unanswered Prayers at our wedding and finally got to dance to the live version last night. Amazing night.

Bethany and Keith have often shared glimpses of their family life on social media, showcasing their bond and the joys of parenthood.
Like any marriage, theirs also faced challenges, but the couple always worked together to overcome obstacles and strengthen their relationship.
This was on the cruise this summer. He loved the pic so much because things had not been good and we were working on it. Now it will be a treasure.

He left behind a community that is stronger because of his presence.
I am absolutely devastated. Crushed. I have never had anyone that is not related to me believe in me so much and have me on such a pedestal. I am going to miss you beyond words. I will try to remember everything you taught me. I could not have had a better boss, role model or friend. Love you so much! Fly high.

The Boaz family will soon announce the funeral arrangements for the executive director of athletic and entertainment facilities of Missouri State University.
His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
