Angela Lee grew up in a family deeply immersed in mixed martial arts, with both her parents actively engaged in the sport.
They introduced her into the world of mixed martial arts at the young age of six.
Angela Lee, a former professional mixed martial artist, competed in the atomweight and strawweight divisions of ONE Championship.
She made history as the inaugural ONE Atomweight World Champion and maintained an undefeated record in that weight class.
On May 5, 2016, Angela Lee became the youngest person ever to win an MMA world title at the age of 19 years and 9 months.
Lee defended her title five times before retiring in September 2023, marking the end of a remarkable championship reign of over seven years, the longest in ONE history.
Tragically, following the passing of her younger sister, Victoria Lee, Angela announced her retirement from MMA during ONE Fight Night 14 on September 30, 2023.
Angela Lee Parents, Ken Lee & Jewelz Lee
Angela Lee was born on July 8, 1996, in British Columbia, Canada, to her parents Ken Lee and Jewelz Lee.
Her father, Ken Lee, has Chinese-Singaporean heritage, and her mother, Jewelz Lee, is a South Korean-born Canadian.
When Angela was seven years old, her family relocated to Hawaii. Both of her parents are martial artists, which influenced Angela to begin her martial arts training at age six.
Her father, Ken Lee, has a lifelong dedication to martial arts, holding black belts in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, pankration, and taekwondo.
Beyond his achievements, he was the owner of multiple gyms in Vancouver.
Furthermore, he served as the head coach of the Canadian Sports Jiu-Jitsu Association and was the president of the Canadian Pangration Federation.
Similarly, Angela’s mother, Jewelz Lee, is a two-time Canadian Silver Medalist and holds black belts in both taekwondo and hapdosool.
The Lee family introduced their children to martial arts from a very early age, making it a shared family pursuit.
Eldest Among The Four Siblings
Angela is the oldest of four siblings (Christian, Victoria, and Adrian). Their father played a pivotal role as a coach for all the siblings, guiding them in their MMA careers.
Christian, one of Angela’s younger brothers, is also involved in MMA, while Adrian trains in martial arts.
In May 2019, Angela’s younger brother Christian Lee secured the ONE Lightweight World Championship, marking a historic moment as they became the first sister-brother duo to achieve mixed martial arts world championship titles.
Unfortunately, Angela’s younger sister Victoria, who was also a part of ONE as a mixed martial artist, passed away in 2022 at the age of 18.
Victoria was poised to excel and potentially surpass Angela’s achievements, as she had already won three fights and earned the moniker ‘The Prodigy.’
