Former Athlete Kent Adams, 67, Dies Following Illness, Leaving Behind His Mother Renee C. And Kids

Kent Crosby Adams, a former athlete and native of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away at the age of 67, leaving his mother and family devastated.

Kent Adams passed away on March 3, 2025, in St. George, Utah, after suffering a respiratory illness.

He was born on July 16, 1957, in Rexburgh, Idaho, to his father, Harold Leonard Adams, and his mother, Reene Crosby Adams.

Adams lived in Salt Lake City for most of his life. However, he spent the last nine years with his dog Ringo in Cedar City, Utah.

He was a natural athlete who participated in various sports.

He was a fantastic skier, cyclist, and biker, and he also played baseball and soccer during high school and college.

Kent also had a keen interest in wrestling. He loved animals, and for over thirty years, his inseparable companions were a succession of Airedale Terriers.

Kent was not just an exceptional athlete but also a great human being who was always kind to everyone.

The former Utah athlete Kent is survived by his mother, Renee Crosby Adams, his daughter, Jessica (Will) Stewart, and four grandchildren.

While very little information about his daughter and grandchildren is available, his mother, Renee, celebrated her 96th birthday in July 2024.

Left to cherish his life are also his two brothers, Clark (Lynette) Adams and Craig (Susan) Adams; two sisters, Denise (Bob) Edwards and Susan Adams; and his nieces and nephews.

Furthermore, his niece, Jen Edwards, the daughter of his sister Denise Adams Edwards, shared her sorrow on social media regarding her uncle’s passing.

She wrote,

“My uncle unexpectedly passed away today. My heart aches for my amazing grandmother Renee Adams and my incredible mom Denise Adams Edwards. So glad to know we will have the opportunity to meet again.”

Kent Adams Was Preceded In Death By His Father, Harold, And Two Brothers!

Kent Adams was preceded to death by his father, Harold Leonard Adams, and two brothers, Harold Leonard Adams Jr. and David Wayne Adams.

The late Kent Adams’ father, Harold Leonard Adams, passed away on October 17, 1992, at the age of 71 at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah, following a prolonged illness.

Born on December 6, 1920, in Salt Lake City to Leonard E. and Betha L. Adams, Kent’s father, Harold, served at California LDS Mission from 1941-43.

Harold was also a Veteran of World War II, Army Signal Int., and a professional photographer, salesman, food service manager, and businessman for the blind.

He married Renee Crosby on August 17, 1949, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, and they were happily married for over four decades.

Furthermore, Kent Adams’ elder brother, Harold Leonard Adams Jr., aka Hank Adams, passed away on June 14, 2004 from diabetic complications.

He was born on September 13, 1954, in Salt Lake City and attended schools in Rexburg, Idaho, Ogden, and Salt Lake City.

Hank graduated from Skyline High School and was an amateur artist. His wife of eight years, Janell Griffin, passed away in 1992.
