Kevin Sumlin, an American college football college, is happily married to his wife, Charlene Sumlin, since the ’90s. Together, they have established their own family and are the proud parents of four children.
His wife is a white American who grew up in a progressive family. She often steals the limelight for actively speaking out against racial injustice in the U.S. and communal hatred.
Back in 2017, Charlene and Kevin received a threatening letter from an anonymous address.
It was meant to hurt their feelings due to Charlene’s stance; it also had racial slurs directed at her family.
The matter seriously hurt her sentiments, and she posted it on her Twitter handle condemning the action. After an investigation, the police arrested a guy named Robin Chiswell from Houston.
Born in Brewton, Alabama, Kevin Sumlin had a passion for sports like ice hockey, football, and basketball from a young age.
The Brebeuf Jesuit Prep School graduate played all the above games for his high school team.
Later, he enrolled in Purdue University and focused entirely on football, aside from pursuing an undergraduate degree in criminology and criminal justice.
Immediately after a year of his college graduation, Sumlin began his coaching career.
Throughout his three-decades-long coaching career, he worked for top colleges like Texas A&M Aggies, Oklahoma Sooner, and Houston Cougars.
Currently, he serves as the associate head coach for the Maryland Terrapins.

Charlene Sumlin, previously Charlene Marie Sirois, was born on June 14, 1973, in Minnesota, United States.
Growing up with her siblings in the Brooklyn Park area. She is a graduate of Park Center Senior High School and the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
Talking about their relationship, the couple met while Kevin was working as an assistant coach for Minnesota Golden Gophers.
During that period, he was a young, energetic football coach and was just at the early stage phase of his career.
After dating for several years, the duo married in Clay, Minnesota. Throughout Kevin’s career, they kept moving to various places.

Kevin and his better half, Charlene Sumlin, together share four children: two daughters and two sons.
Their oldest son, Jackson Sumlin, was born in 2001 in College Station, Texas. Due to his father’s career, Jackson switched various schools in Oklahoma and Arizona.
Eventually, after graduating in 2019, he enrolled at the University of Oklahoma and took up a bachelor’s in Communications.
In addition, he played a few games for Oklahoma Sooners before shifting to Florida Atlantic University in 2023.
Likewise, their youngest son, Joey, was born in Oklahoma on April 8, 2004. He is a freshman at Purdue University and will play as a linebacker for the Boilermakers.
Before college, he played football for Salpointe Catholic High School and IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
Besides, Kevin and Charlene’s daughter, Courtney, studied acting at New York University. She previously attended St. Agnes School and College Station High School.
Their other daughter, Shelby, graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management, where she played volleyball briefly.
Shelby obtained her Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine Caruso School of Law in 2023.
