Kimani Vidal, an American professional football running back for the Los Angeles Chargers, credits his parents for his athletic success.

His father, Kwame Vidal, was a former college running back and influenced Kimani’s athletic journey.

Kimani began playing football at Marietta High School and committed to play college football at Troy over offers from Memphis, Syracuse, LSU, South Carolina, and South Alabama.

He rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown in a winning game over Eastern Kentucky in week 5 of the 2020 season. Overall, he finished his freshman season with 101 carries for 516 yards and four touchdowns.

Similarly, he rushed for 162 yards and five touchdowns on 152 carries during the 2021 season and ran 1,132 yards and 10 touchdowns on 231 carries in his breakout 2022 season.

Kimani earned Sun Belt Conference offensive player of the week honors in week 12 of the 2022 season and was also named second-team all-Sun Belt.

He became the first player ever to rush for five touchdowns in an FBS conference championship and won the MVP award in the 2023 conference championship game.

Afterwards, the Los Angeles Chargers selected him in the sixth round with the 181st overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. He recorded his first official touch, a 38-yard touchdown in an NFL debut win over the Denver Broncos on October 13, 2024.

Kimani Vidal’s Parents Are The Supportive Pillars

Kimani Vidal, the son of Kwame and Dayna Vidal, was born on August 28, 2001, in Atlanta, Georgia. His parents raised him in a close-knit family alongside his sister, Kaylin.

He grew up in an athletic household where his father played football for Florida A&M.

Kimani’s development into a remarkable athlete is a result of his parents‘ consistent support and direction. Their influence has been a driving force in his journey from his early days on the field to his record-breaking high school career.

He followed in his father’s footsteps, playing both linebacker and running back.

Kwame Vidal instilled in him a love for football and the discipline and strategic mindset needed to excel. His firsthand experience as an athlete allowed him to mentor his son, helping him refine his skills and mental toughness.

That guidance paid off when Kimani led Marietta High to its first state championship since 1967, earning MVP honors in the title game.

While Kwame shaped Kimani’s athletic development, his mother, Dayna Vidal, provided the steady foundation of care and encouragement.

Happy birthday to the most amazing son a mother can have. You make me so proud!

Nontheless, Kimani continues to make waves in football, and his success is a reflection of the love, sacrifice, and dedication of his parents.

Kimani Vidal Is Carrying the Legacy of Baseball Legend Hank Aaron

Kimani Vidal, a rising talent in the world of sports, holds a special connection to one of baseball’s greatest icons, Hank Aaron, aka Hammerin’ Hank.

He is the great nephew of the legendary Hammer, whose legacy continues to inspire athletes across generations.

Henry Louis Aaron was a baseball titan whose career spanned 23 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB).

He shattered records playing primarily for the Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves and solidified his place among the sport’s all-time greats.

His most famous achievement came in 1974 when he surpassed Babe Ruth’s long-standing home run record, finishing his career with 755 homers, a milestone that stood for 33 years.

Beyond home runs, Aaron dominated the record books in RBIs of 2,297, extra-base hits of 1,477, and total bases of 6,856.

He was a 25-time All-Star and 1957 NL MVP, renowned for his consistency, power, and grace under pressure, especially while breaking barriers as a Black athlete during the Civil Rights era.

Though Hank Aaron passed away in January 2021, his influence lives on. Kimani Vidal carries that athletic lineage onto the gridiron.

While his path differs from his great uncle’s, the determination and excellence that defined Aaron’s career remain a source of pride and motivation.
