The passing of KJ Adams’ mother, Yvonne, has cast a profound sense of mourning over the Adams family and their supporters.
Yvonne valiantly faced a relentless battle against cancer, enduring the challenges with remarkable resilience for over two years.
K. J. Adams Jr. is a young and upcoming basketball player looking to take the sport by storm.
Adams was born and raised in Austin, Texas, and attended local Westlake High School. Despite going forward with the choice to play basketball, Adams also loved playing lacrosse.
He grew up loving lacrosse almost more than basketball. Adams even claims that he was much better at lacrosse than basketball between fifth and eighth grade.
Adams, who was used to being acknowledged for his basketball abilities, admits he was pleased to get postseason lacrosse honors.
According to major recruiting organizations, Adams was a four-star recruit. He later chose to play college basketball at the University of Kansas.
Despite being a young player, Adams has already managed to bag several awards, such as NCAA Champion (2022) and Big 12 Most Improved Player (2023) to his name.
KJ Adams Mom Cancer Has Taken Her Life
It is with deep remorse that we write KJ Adams’s mother recently died due to cancer. The player and all the fans are deeply shaken by this news.
His mother, Yvonne, instilled many good values about sportsmanship and discipline in the player.
Adams’ mother was battling with metastatic bladder cancer for a long time. It appeared like she had beaten it during his freshman year, but it returned again last year.
Yvonne battled with the cancer for over two years, struggling. But now she rests, as per an Instagram post made by the player earlier today.
She always said that the pain of her battling through cancer was a bit less, knowing she was fighting it alongside her closely-knit family.
Adams used to regularly call her to get updates and check up on her situation. He said that knowing what his mother was going through would drive his tenacity to win.
Every game he played was dedicated to her. Yvonne was an outgoing equity and inclusion director at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
As a kid, Yvonne would encourage Adams always to play different sports. She said, “When you play other sports, you work on stuff in your body you wouldn’t have worked on if you just played one sport”.
She herself was a college athlete who had played a two-year basketball starter at Texas A&M and led the team in scoring in 1989-90 and 1990-91.
Who Are The Rest Of His Family?
Adams’ family is going through a very difficult time after losing the matriarch of the family.
Apart from his mother, Adam’s family consists of his father and two of his sisters. All of his family members are involved in sports in either one way or the other.
Kevin’s father, a running back at Spring Woods High School in Houston, once led the state in rushing and went on to play college football at Eastern New Mexico.
His sister Britanny attended the St. Stephen’s Episcopal School in Austin, Texas. In her high school years, she used to play basketball and run track.
She had also achieved the third-highest score in Texas on the National French Exam. Britanny later joined SMU, earning an All-American Athletic Conference Second Team spot.
His sister, Jaila, appears to be someone who wants to stay very low-key. She doesn’t post much on social media and has only a little more than 200 followers on her Instagram.
