Knocked Out After One Punch: Warren Easton Star Athlete Punished for Defending Himself

The battle continues, leaving a promising athlete sidelined by a system his mother believes failed him.

Tisheata Curry, the mother of a boy who was expelled from Warren Easton, posted about the unfair consequences that his son had to go through.

Her son knocked out one of the seniors who started the fight with one punch while defending himself.

A recent fight at Warren Easton High School has sparked outrage after the school handed down a deeply unfair punishment.

The incident began when five seniors allegedly tried to jump three junior football players in what should have been a clear case of self-defense.

Instead, the juniors who fought back found themselves facing the harshest consequences, while the seniors’ only penalty was being barred from walking at graduation.

Curry’s son, one of the juniors, delivered a single punch that knocked out one of the attackers. Despite not starting the fight, he was expelled.

Meanwhile, another junior involved also faced severe punishment, while a third remains at the school, still playing football.

The situation has left many questioning the school’s disciplinary policies.

Tisheata Curry Fights For Justice When Her Athlete Son Punished for Defending Himself

Tisheata Curry has been battling what she calls an unjust punishment against her son for months.

Despite her efforts to handle the situation the right way, she says influence and bias within the school system have overridden fairness.

Curry claims that an influential figure, the aunt of another student involved, used her position as president of Warren Easton’s alum board to ensure her son and his teammates faced consequences.

The aunt allegedly sent screenshots of Curry’s son (later revealed to be an old photo) to school officials, demanding to know why he was still participating in football while her nephew faced graduation restrictions.

Furthermore, Curry says school staff admitted the woman’s interference. Yet, still allowed it to sway their decision.

The family argues that the school violated her son’s due process rights, delaying the truth for three months before revealing critical evidence in writing.

Even after Warren Easton’s Board of Directors recommended his reinstatement, the Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) refused to overturn the expulsion, rejecting every proposed negotiation from Curry’s attorney.

Curry’s son spends his days at an alternative school instead of preparing for his senior football season alongside teammates.

His heartbroken but determined mother continues fighting not just for her child but for another expelled student caught in the same situation.

I talk with him every day to keep him motivated and focused. I’m heartbroken. My son deserves a fair chance to finish his senior year and play the sport he loves.

Fundraiser Created to Support Young Athletes Return to School

Tisheata Stallings would be raising funds for her son’s football activities this time of year, but the situation is different this year.

Instead of preparing for the season, she is fighting to get him back on the field and back into the school where he has worked so hard for the past three years.

Her son was expelled without due process, which was a violation of his rights.

Despite her appeal, the decision was upheld, even though it was acknowledged that proper procedures weren’t followed.

The hearing officer admitted they lacked due process but still ruled against them, citing compelling evidence. Now, she is left with no choice but to pursue legal action to correct the injustice.

Her son isn’t perfect, but he’s an asset to his school. He’s a dedicated football player who has sacrificed summers, falls, and springs for his team.

Academically, his strong LEAP scores have helped maintain the school’s performance rating. Beyond that, he’s a part-time student at NOCC, working toward an electrician certification.

I am asking as humble as I can for your help to get my back son back where he belongs.
Thank you in advance for any help that you can offer.
