Sean Baird, varsity lacrosse goalie at Caravel Academy in Bear, Delaware, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the age of 16.
While the cause of his demise is not publicly confirmed, sources mentioned that his passing was sudden and unexpected.
Sean Baird Was A Talented Lacrosse Player At Caravel Academy!
Sean Baird was born on March 8, 2009, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware, to his parents, Karen and Kevin Baird.
He loved playing lacrosse and found his passion as a goalie at Caravel Academy and with the Brotherly Love team.
A talented lacrosse player at Caravel Academy in Bear, Delaware, he served as goalkeeper for the varsity boys’ team.
Sean was a proud member of the Class of 2027 and wore jersey #34. During the 2024 season, he consistently contributed to his team’s standout performances.
Throughout the 2024 spring season, he played in multiple games, delivering standout performances with a consistent presence in the goal.
A rising star in the lacrosse community, he was a beloved teammate whose passion for the game inspired those around him.
According to MaxPreps, Sean Baird played a total of 78 minutes during the 2024 lacrosse season and showed impressive skill as a goalie.
He had a strong overall save percentage of .695, with several standout performances. On March 22, in a game against Dover High School, he had a perfect save rate of 1.000, stopping all four shots he faced in 18 minutes.
Just a few days later, on March 25, he made four more saves with a .571 save percentage against Red Lion Christian Academy.
Another strong game came on May 16 against Delcastle Technical, where he again made four saves and had a save rate of .800 in 24 minutes.
Beyond lacrosse, Sean enjoyed skiing with his brothers and fishing with friends.
Tragically, Sean passed away unexpectedly on July 7, 2025, at just 16 years old. His sudden loss has sent shockwaves through Caravel Academy and beyond.
His classmates, coaches, family, and friends mourn the passing of a bright, kind-hearted, and spirited young man.
In honor of his legacy, a scholarship fund has been established at Caravel Academy to support future students.
Sean is survived by his parents, Karen and Kevin, and his brothers, Ryan and Colin.
He also leaves behind his grandparents, Mary and Kenneth Hlavac, David and Nanci Baird, and Julia and Michael Fletcher, along with many loving relatives and friends who will miss him deeply.
On Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Caravel Academy, there will be a memorial gathering beginning at 3 p.m., followed by a sharing service at 5 p.m. to honor and remember Sean Baird.
Although his life was cut short, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
