According to reports, the Buss family agreed to sell the majority ownership of the Los Angeles Lakers to Mark Walter for a franchise valuation of approximately $10 billion on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
Furthermore, this agreement marks the highest ever for a U.S. professional sports franchise.

Samantha Walter has been serving as a program coordinator for partnerships and communications at the Stevens Initiative of The Aspen Institute, a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C.
She has been holding the position since July 2024, and as a program coordinator, she supports the implementation of the initiative’s external affairs portfolio.
Prior to this, Samantha Walter served as the communications Intern of One Acre Fund in Kigali City, Rwanda, where she advanced the organization’s communications objectives.
Samantha earned her Bachelor’s degree with honors in History from Brown University in 2024.
While at Brown, she served as the part-time Water Polo Team Manager and Research Assistant at the Joukowsky Institute of Archaeology in San Vero Milis, Sardinia, Italy.
Samantha further served as the administrative intern of PAWS Chicago, a non-profit organization based in Chicago that helped homeless animals.
She also earned her high school diploma from the British International School of Chicago, where she was involved in several groups, including the National Honor Society, served as an elected representative to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Summit in New York, and was a member of the Model United Nations Team and Spanish Tutor.
Samantha was also the conservation Ambassador to Lincoln Park Zoo. While at Bristish International School of Chicago, Samantha also excelled in volleyball and served as the Varsity Volleyball team captain.
