Lamar High School Track Athlete, Zack Rankin, 19 Passes Away In Car Accident, Leaving His Parents Devastated!

Zack Rankin was a 19-year-old who tragically lost his life in a car accident in Lamb County, Texas, on June 2, 2025.

Zack Rankin was driving south on US 385 when another driver, Randy Lopez, 21, entered the intersection from County Road 242.

Lopez had stopped at the intersection but then proceeded forward, leading to a collision with Rankin’s vehicle.

Rankin was transported to the University Medical Center after the incident but was later pronounced deceased due to his injuries.

On the other hand, Hailey Sprangler, Zack Rankin’s 20-year-old passenger, was seriously injured in the accident and was transported to the hospital. She is currently listed as stable.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, neither Zack nor Hailey was wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, which may have contributed to the severity of their injuries.

Likewise, Randy Lopez, the driver of the other vehicle, did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

Zack Rankin Was A Standout Track And Field Athlete During His High School Years!

Zack Rankin was a track and field athlete who competed for Lamar High School in Colorado.

He participated in various events, including the 400-meter dash, 800-meter run, 1600-meter run, and 3200-meter run.

His performances showed steady progression throughout his high school career, demonstrating his dedication to the sport.

After that, Rankin transitioned into entrepreneurship, demonstrating his ambition and leadership skills.

He became the Co-owner of Cz Landscaping, where he took initiative in running a business.

Later, he moved into the automotive industry as a Sales Consultant at Mercedes-Benz of Lubbock.

His passing has deeply affected his family, friends, and community, who are mourning his loss and honoring his memory.

Many well-wishers have come together to offer condolences and support, reflecting on Zack’s impact on those around him.

His loved ones are sharing heartfelt tributes, recalling his kindness, dedication, and the joy he brought to their lives.

One of his colleagues expressed her sadness and highlighted the deep impact he had on those around him, saying:

Miss you tremendously today, kid.

These last 2 months have been fun with you around. One of the most go-getting 19 year olds I have ever met in my life. Had an incredible future ahead of you.

Moreover, his father, Scot, and siblings shared a family photo on social media as a tribute to honor his memory.
