Lando Norris and Max Verstappen’s battle at the United States Grand Prix has erupted in controversy after the McLaren driver was penalized for passing his rival Max Verstappen for a third place off the track.

During the race, Lando Norris finished third after passing Verstappen; however, while doing so, he ran out of track at Turn 12 with four laps to go and reached the exit of the corner.

After he had left the track, Verstappen complained, but he chose not to give up the position.

Stewards also agreed with Verstappen that Norris should have given the position back to Verstappen, but when he did not agree, he was penalized five seconds.

The penalty dropped him to fourth place as his lead over Verstappen wasn’t big enough. Verstappen extended his lead in the championship standings to 57 with five races and 146 points still available.

Although Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc won the race, the controversy about the Norris-Verstappen battle started rising.

Max Verstappen Also Had Gone off Track but Didn’t Receive a Penalty, Even Though Lando Norris Had Complained!

At the U.S. Grand Prix, Lando Norris and Max Verstappen had two key clashes, which ignited colossal controversy.

During the game, both stars had been out of the truck. At first, when Norris tried to cover the inside, Max Verstappen went for it, causing both to run out of the track.

After the incident, Norris claimed Verstappen forced him to go off the track, but the Stewards didn’t take any action.

Due to their battle, Charles Leclerc took the lead and dominated the race. Further, Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz also went ahead with Verstappen after an earlier pit stop.

During the middle of the race, Norris and Verstappen were close to each other. Around lap 52, Norris tried to overtake Verstappen, going around the outside at Turn 12, which again led both drivers to run off-track.

However, as Norris had emerged ahead of Verstappen, he complained to the Stewards, who agreed and gave Norris a five-second penalty.

The controversy started after Norris received the penalty, which dropped his score. People argued about Verstappen’s overtaking in the first place, and no one took action against him, but when Norris did the same, they gave him a penalty.

The McLaren driver, Lando, admitted that despite feeling down after the race, he didn’t do enough to avoid the penalty.
