Larry Bird was born in 1956, and he celebrates his birthday on December 7 every year. His birthplace is West Baden Springs, Indiana, but later he grew up in French Lick.
He had to deal with emotional turbulence after his parents divorced, and his father committed suicide when he was in high school. As a result, Larry’s family went through an economic struggle.
Bird has five siblings; three brothers, Mike, Mark, Jeff, Eddie, and a sister, Linda. His mother, Georgia, struggled to raise the six kids after separation from her husband and suicide.

My name is Butch Jones I am from West Baden Indiana and went to school in the same grade with Larry’s brother Jeff Bird from 1st – 12th, We graduated in 1982 at Springs Valley High school French Lick, IN all of us had a great time back then clowning around, One time in health class in 7th or 8th grade Jeff was acting up in class and the teacher told him Bird get go to your cage which meant go behind the door in the corner facing the teachers locker funny ass hell, All his Brothers were kinda always enjoying life having fun clowning around, I sure miss those days, I went to several of Larry’s home games when when I was in grade school and watched him play High School Basketball, I even ended up working in the same grocery store Again’s market that Larry worked at a few years before me in West Baden, I wish him and his family the very best from down here in Texas.
