Pete Carroll has been married twice in his life. He was married to Wendy Pearl before his current and second wife, Glena Goranson.

Pete Carroll is a well-known football coach, famous for his time with the Seattle Seahawks and USC Trojans.

But behind his success is his wife, Glena Goranson, who has been by his side for decades.

The American football coach, Pete, married his first wife, Wendy Pearl, in 1973. However, their marriage was short-lived, and they were married for just two years, from 1973 to 1975.

So far, the prime reason behind their failed marriage remains unknown.

Following Pete’s divorce from Wendy, he found love in a short period, while Wendy maintains a low profile and is away from the media.

Pete Carroll And Glena Goranson Have Been Married For 49 years!

Coach Pete Carroll met his second wife, Glena Goranson, while they were both students at the University of the Pacific in California.

During that time, he played football as a free safety for the Pacific Tigers, and Glena played indoor volleyball.

It was their shared love for sports that likely brought them together, and they connected during their college years.

Later, Pete and Glena walked down the aisle on May 21, 1976, just a year after Pete’s divorce from Wendy.

The longtime couple, Pete and Glena, have been married for 49 years.

They have three grown children together: Brennan, Jaime, and Nate.

Glena prefers to stay out of the spotlight, so not much is known about her personal life. However, she’s often described as Pete’s biggest cheerleader.

Whether he was coaching college football or in the NFL, Glena was there, helping him stay grounded. The couple enjoys spending time with their family, and Pete has said family is a big part of his life.

Glena has always been a key part of Pete’s life, supporting him through his coaching career, including leading the Seahawks to a Super Bowl win in 2014.

Pete has been vocal about his gratitude for having Glena in his life.

One such instance is in January 2024, when Pete Carroll announced he would step down from his role after 14 seasons, transitioning to an advisory position with the team.

During his emotional farewell press conference on January 10, 2024, Carroll became visibly moved, expressing deep gratitude to his wife, Glena Goranson, for her support throughout his coaching career.

The moment was particularly heartfelt, as Carroll described Glena as “the angel of my life” and credited her as a vital partner through the highs and lows of his 14-year tenure with the Seahawks.

In a teary voice, he said:

I’ve been blessed with, like, the rarest of best friends and mentor, loving partner, the angel in my life. This is worth crying for. Glena, nobody would ever understand how significant… She’s been through all of the stuff that we’ve been through and how important she is. She’s just been an angel in my life, and I owe you everything.

Likewise, the entire family has been involved in Pete’s coaching world, with their sons even working on the Seahawks’ coaching staff.

In 2009, there was a rumor that Pete had cheated on Glena with a USC graduate student while he was coaching at the University of Southern California.

The rumor started after comments by another coach, Charlie Weis, were taken out of context. Pete strongly denied the allegations, calling them “untrue” and “irresponsible.”

No evidence supported the claims, and they didn’t impact Pete and Glena’s marriage. They remained strong, and Glena continued to support Pete through his career

In Case You Didn’t Know

  • Carroll is one of only three coaches in football history to have won both a college football national championship and a Super Bowl.
  • He was inducted into the Pacific Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995.
  • Carroll holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Physical Education.
