Jacob Swann, a senior at Lenape High School who won the hearts of many with his amazing athletic skills, passed away in a tragic car accident on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the untimely age of 21.
According to reports, Jacob Swann, 21, riding in a Honda Civic, was killed after the car crashed into a tractor-trailer on Route 31 between Titus Mill and Hopewell Pennington roads in Mercer County, New Jersey, on Tuesday afternoon.
Alongside Jacob Swann, two other students, who were in the Civic, were also severely injured in the fatal car accident and were taken to a nearby hospital.
While Jacob Swann couldn’t survive the injuries, his two friends are currently in the hospital. All three friends were heading back home from their senior prom night.
Furthermore, the Hopewell Township Police Department is collaborating with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office in investigating the car accident and has requested that anyone with information regarding the crash contact Detective Steve Ciosek of the Hopewell Township Police.
Lenape High School also released a statement regarding the tragic car accident that took the life of their beloved student-athlete Jacob Swann, stating:
“Our Lenape Family suffered a tragic loss today when one of our seniors was killed in an automobile accident; two of the student’s friends, also members of the class of 2025, were injured. Lenape High School and Lenape Regional High School District personnel are working closely with the Burlington County Crisis Response Team to provide our students, families, staff, and community with counseling support to assist with the grieving process. The Burlington County Crisis Response Team will be available to students and staff first thing in the morning and throughout the day on May 28 to assist those in need of emotional support.”

Jacob Swann was born in June 2003 to father Keith Swann and mother Shannon Gosk-Swann.
Although his parents, Keith and Shannon, haven’t publicly commented on the untimely loss of their beloved son Jacob Swann, his mother often shares photos of him, expressing her love and pride for their only child.
Jacob Swann Was A Multi-Sport Athlete At Lenape High School
The late Jacob Swann demonstrated a remarkable dual-sport journey as both a swimmer and football player at Lenape High School.
As a swimmer, Jacob steadily improved over his four years on the boys’ swim team. Specializing in freestyle and butterfly events, he consistently placed in relays and individual races.
Notably, during the 2024-2025 season as a senior, he posted standout performances in the 50 Free (best: 24.34). He contributed to several top finishes in relays, including a 1st-place 200 Free Relay finish against Ocean City and Moorestown Friends.
In addition to swimming, Jacob also played football for the Lenape boys’ varsity football team, where he showcased leadership, versatility, and a strong work ethic.
His contributions in both swimming and football made him a well-rounded student-athlete and a valued member of Lenape’s athletic community.
Jacob Swann’s contributions to the sports field and his cheerful, kind nature will always remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and loved ones.
