Hailing from Coral Springs, Florida, Thompson is a proud American who recently joined the ranks of only seven women to compete in a Professional Golfers Association (PGA) tour event.

Alexis Noel Thompson, born on February 10, 1995, is a professional golfer playing for the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA).

When she was 12 years old, she made history, becoming the youngest golfer to qualify for the US Women’s Open. 

At 15, Lexi turned professional and won the LPGA Classic on September 18, 2011, as the youngest ever. 

Moreover, at the age of 19, Thompson was the champion of the 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship, becoming the second youngest golfer to win a major.

In 2018, Lexi Thompson withdrew from the Ricoh Women’s British Open, citing a need to recharge her mental batteries and focus on her personal life.

Following her return, on June 2, 2019, she recorded her best finish a T2nd in the US Women’s Open. She further went on to win the ShopRite LPGA Classic in New Jersey. 

Furthermore, in 2022, she became one of the highest earners in LPGA, earning $12,608,045 in 230 events over 10 years.

What is Lexi Thompson’s Ethnicity?

Lexi Thompson’s Caucasian White heritage comes from her parents, Scott and Judy Thompson.

Born and raised in Coral Springs, Florida, the golf player still calls it home. She was homeschooled and has never left her home state.

She spent her formative years growing up alongside her two brothers, Nicholas and Curtis. Both of her siblings are professional golfers and are part of the Korn Ferry Tour and the PGA Tour. 

Lexi is very attached to her family, especially her father, who was responsible for getting her into the sport. Her father’s constant support is evident at every game, celebrating her achievements.

Furthermore, Lexi is also close with her mother sees her as an idol. Despite being a cancer survivor, her mother stays right by her in most of her golf events. 

In 2022, Lexi Thompson shared on Instagram a birthday tribute to her mother, saying,

“Happy Birthday to my best friend, role model, and the best mom a girl can ask for.”

During her journey to stardom, he brothers have also been supportive, often caddying for the 28-year-old golfer.

Making History

Lexi Thompson is set to become one of the only seven women to compete in a PGA Tour event. Thompson is set to tee it up at the Shriners Children’s Open in Las Vegas. 

Thompson aims to inspire young women to pursue their dreams despite challenges, using her performance and ability to compete with men as a source of inspiration.

Lexi joins Babe Zaharias, the “Woman Athlete of the 20th Century”, Shirley Sport, Annika Sorenstam, Suzey Whaley, Michelle Wie West, and Brittany Lincicome as the only women to compete in the PGA Tour event.

The 29-year-old was inspired by those who came before her and is set to draw motivation from them.

Further, she thanked the Shriners Children for giving her the opportunity. Moreover, Thompson expressed her gratitude to Shriners Children for their support of all children with disabilities, regardless of gender.

Additionally, Thompson was beyond excited to get to Las Vegas and be inspired by the children at the event.
