Bullying is never harmless, and schools must have clear, enforced anti-bullying policies.

Shannon Frye Dodds alleges that her son, Frankie, was bullied in his high school and threatened to the point that he was texting her how scared he was.

Frankie was a social butterfly, but he was going to be the reason bullies get charged with murder.

Bullying in high school is often dismissed as a “normal” part of growing up, but it is a daily nightmare of fear, humiliation, and isolation for many students.

While most incidents are non-violent, the constant abuse can create a dangerous event, sometimes with fatal consequences.

Bullying isn’t just pushing or name-calling. It’s a pattern of repeated, hurtful behavior designed to make someone feel powerless.

This relentless torment can have devastating effects on a victim’s mental health, leading to severe depression, anxiety, and overwhelming feelings of hopelessness.

Multiple cases have shown that what starts with “just jokes” or social exclusion can escalate into a tragedy that destroys multiple lives and shatters entire communities.

A Mother’s Plea: Lexington Mom Says Bullying Broke Her Son

Shannon Frye Dodds has shared her story in case it can help other mothers or children who are also victims of bullying.

She says her son, Frankie, was bullied by a football teammate starting in August, and the situation escalated when Frankie was allegedly slapped in the face on September 11.

After reporting the incident to a coach on September 12, Dodds says Frankie was mysteriously removed from the team for grades, a reason she disputes.

She claims the school never notified her about the assault and that the alleged bully faced no consequences, continuing to play in games.

Dodds went to the school demanding to file an assault charge, but the administrator, guidance, and SRO blew her off.

Frankie works SUPER hard to get back on (even though I was against it ) pulls his grades up & the only thing he got was his gym bag with his cleats handed to him during PE. I looked & his name was already taken off the roster !

The bullying didn’t stop.

Dodds alleges the same student and others threw food at Frankie during lunch and threatened him so severely that he texted her from school, terrified and in tears.

She felt broken when the school knew the bully was calling her kid a retard and did nothing.

The final straw came when Frankie texted his mother that he didn’t want to “do this anymore,” expressing thoughts so dark they forced his parents to withdraw him from school for his safety.

Dodds believes the alleged bully’s family connections in Lexington influenced the school’s inaction.

After we withdrew him from school, he tells us how he is going to change things . That he’s going to be the reason bully’s get charged with murder. How they’re going to show his (bully’s) face on the news & not block it out, they normally do bc he’s a kid. My child said those words !!! He put THAT much thought into it.

Dodds’s post has since gained wide attention, with many other parents sharing their support and similar experiences.

Her story has started a difficult but necessary conversation about accountability and the protection of all students.

Trust me, I went through this for years with Aaron. It’s a school district problem, and the more you try, the more disappointed you will become. The Admin staff even had the nerve to tell me at his IEP meetings that I did not know what I was talking about pertaining to MY son because I did not have a degree in education. They are ill-prepared to deal with kids who are not neurotypical.
