Lexington Native Golf Player Jacob May, 51, Dies Of Illness Leaving His Two Children Jake And Emerson Behind

Jacob May from Lexington passed away after battling an illness on April 7. He was affectionately known as “Big Fella” or “Big Guy.”

Rheba Mabie was shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of Jacob May, a respected figure in the junior golf community.

She remembered him for his skills on the course, sportsmanship, and unforgettable smile, which could light up any room.

I was shocked to see one of my old junior golf friends, Jacob May, passed away. 💔 I have such good memories and I’ll always remember his wonderful personality and light-up-the-room smile. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

After all, Jacob May, 51, teamed up with Paul Carpenter in the 2014 Carolinas Four-Ball Championship. They shot a 74 (+4) in the first round of stroke play qualifying, but unfortunately, they didn’t cut to advance to match play.

Family And Friends Mourn The Loss Of Jacob May

Jacob May, a Partner/Sales at NED National Equipment Dealers, is survived by his two children, Emerson May and Jake May, and his partner, Amber.

No one thought he could have gone so soon. Reid Sechrest shared that he had heard from a mutual friend that Jacob May wasn’t doing well, but didn’t realize his health had deteriorated so much.

He sent prayers to Jacob’s family during this difficult time. Gary Adams also expressed his sadness, saying he didn’t know it was that serious either. He expressed the shock and sorrow felt by many.

Further, Brittany B Frank shared that it was a pleasure to live with Jacob for those four years and be his nanny, during which time he and his family became her own.

Brittany expressed her gratitude for the opportunity and enduring admiration for Jacob and his family.

She also imagined Jacob giving his father a big bear hug in heaven and said that he will forever be missed by so many.

The world lost a great guy. It was a pleasure living with you for those 4 years being your nanny. You all became my family. I will forever be grateful for that opportunity and always think so highly of you and your family. I can only imagine the bear hug you’re giving your Daddy right now Jacob May – you will forever be missed by so many!
