The Lincoln Railsplitters community in Ypsilanti, Michigan, is mourning the heartbreaking loss of their beloved football coach, Jason Wilkerson.

His sudden passing has left a huge pain in the hearts of players, families, and friends who knew him as a mentor, leader, and inspiration.

Coach Wilkerson inspired many young athletes with his dedication, passion, and belief in their potential.

Born and raised in Michigan, Jason Wilkerson was a proud alumnus of Lincoln High School in Ypsilanti.

His deep connection to the community fueled his commitment to shaping the lives of its youth.

As a coach for the Lincoln Railsplitters, he transformed the football program into a source of pride, establishing values of grit, teamwork, and strength in his players.

His approach wasn’t just about winning games; it was about building character and encouraging a sense of belonging.

Jason had a unique ability to spot talent in unexpected places, and he scouted athletes from soccer fields, track teams, and basketball courts, inviting them to “just come give kicking a try.

Many of these young men stayed, not just for the game, but because of the community Coach Wilkerson created.

He saw potential where others might not, encouraging his players to believe in themselves even when they doubted their abilities.

His commitment showed in his long hours at the field, motivating his team to achieve greatness.

Jason shaped his Players into Confident Young men by Teaching Life Lessons Through Football

His coaching philosophy went beyond strategy and technique; it was about preparing his athletes for the challenges of life.

Whether it was teaching them to persevere through setbacks or celebrating their successes, Coach Wilkerson’s influence spread into every corner of their lives, leaving a lasting legacy.

His passion for mentoring wasn’t limited to football. As Sophia Joan Duncan shared in a heartfelt tribute,

“Jason will absolutely be deeply missed by the Lincoln Community. I swam with Hope in middle school, and he was always at every meet, ready to help wherever needed. Most of all, I could tell he was incredibly passionate about ensuring not only his own child felt supported but the whole team felt supported and ready to compete. One of a kind truly.”

His presence was a continuous source of encouragement, not just for his own children but for every young athlete he encountered.

Beyond the sidelines, Jason Wilkerson was a successful entrepreneur and athlete.

Since 2002, he has owned Royal West Roofing and Sheet Metal, a respected commercial roofing and architectural sheet metal business in the Detroit Metropolitan Area.

In 2017, he expanded his ventures by founding TCJW Holdings, showcasing his drive and work ethic in the business world.

His commitment to excellence in his professional life mirrored the determination he brought to coaching.

Jason was also an avid triathlete, competing in the demanding multisport race that combines swimming, cycling, and running.

His participation in triathlons showed his competitive spirit and dedication to pushing his limits, qualities he instilled in his players and those around him.

Jason leaves behind his wife, Tammy, and their children—Logan, Tanner, Hope, and Quinn—as well as his cherished grandchildren.

His family was at the heart of everything he did, and his love for them was evident in his unwavering support at their events and activities.

Whether cheering at a swim meet or guiding his players on the field, Jason’s warmth and generosity touched everyone he met.
