Tom Carro was a beloved physical education teacher at Lindenhurst High School and a veteran lacrosse coach. Tragically, he passed away on March 10, 2025, at the age of 53.
Tom was born on October 27, 1971, to parents Joann Carro and the late Anthony Carro.
A U.S. Marine veteran with an extensive coaching career, he worked with Suffolk County Community College, Miller Place, Bayport-Blue Point, and Stony Brook School.
Carro Is Survived By His Four Children, His Mother, Three Siblings, And A Grandson!
Thomas M. Carro aka Tom Carro, a U.S. Marine veteran, was a respected coach and physical education teacher.
He coached women’s lacrosse at Suffolk County Community College (SCCC).
Additionally, he led varsity girls’ lacrosse teams at Lindenhurst, Miller Place, and Bayport-Blue Point high schools.
Most recently, he served as the coach for the girls varsity lacrosse team at the Stony Brook School.
Regarding his career, he played lacrosse and football during his high school years and college-level lacrosse at SCCC and Adelphi.
Since 1994, he had been dedicated to teaching physical education at Lindenhurst schools.
Lindenhurst School Superintendent Vincent Caravana first shared the news of Tom Carro’s passing with the public.
He informed the school district community through a letter, expressing condolences and offering support to those affected. He wrote:
We have recently been informed of the tragic passing of Mr. Thomas Carro, physical education teacher at Lindenhurst High School,Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Additionally, he assured the community that support services were available during this difficult time, saying:
Please know that our social workers and counselors are available to provide support to anyone who needs it during this trying time. I know that Lindenhurst will rally as it always does during times of turmoil and tension.
Tom is survived by his four children: Tom Carro, Victoria Campis and Gabrielle, Danielle, and Tommi Carro.
He is also survived by his mother, Joann; three siblings, Anthony, Dominic, and Mary Jean; and his grandson, Anthony Joseph Carro.

A parent of a son coached by Tom Carro expressed their gratitude, saying it was a pleasure to work with such a dedicated and inspiring mentor saying:
My husband and I are deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Coach Carro. Our son Paul had the pleasure of working with Tom and they were great friends. We’re sending our deepest condolences to the family. May Tom Rest in Peace
Robertaccio Funeral Home handled the arrangements for his private cremation, with the final resting place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
