The sudden loss of 10-year-old Bryson Funk has deeply affected the community of Linglestown, Pennsylvania, leaving a lasting impact on family, friends, and neighbors.
Bryson, a passionate young baseball player, passed away on June 12, 2025, from an unexpected cardiac arrest caused by myocarditis.
His parents, Amy and Todd Funk, along with his sisters, Daisy Mohney and Taylor, are suffering from unbelievable grief.
Yet, amidst the sorrow, Bryson’s legacy as a kind-hearted, talented, and spirited boy shines through in the memories shared by those who knew him.
Born in January 2015, Bryson was raised in a family that cherished sports. Both of his parents, Amy and Todd, were athletes themselves.
Amy played for the Ridgerunner team in a women’s softball tournament in 2018, while Todd, a baseball enthusiast, often took Bryson to games, encouraging his love for the sport.
Wearing #3 as a pitcher for the Linglestown Colts, Bryson was a standout player whose passion for baseball was matched only by his compassion for others.
Just one day before his passing, Bryson had the game of his life.
In a championship match, he went 3-3 at the plate, hitting two doubles, driving in three runs, stealing three bases, and pitching the final three innings.
He struck out the last batter to secure the win for his team, a moment of pure joy and triumph. But what made Bryson truly special was his heart.
Despite his team’s victory, he chose to stand with the opposing team, the Hawks, in the group photo, showing support for his friends who had lost.
A gentleman from the Hawks family shared that when he congratulated Bryson that night, expecting a high-five, Bryson instead shook his hand and thanked him—a small gesture that spoke a lot about his character.
The Funk Family, A Close-Knit Group United By Their Love For Sports, Is Now In Mourning
Bryson’s sudden departure has left his parents, Amy and Todd, and his sisters, Daisy and Taylor, in deep shock and unbearable pain.
Bryson’s older sister, Daisy, created the Bryson Funk Memorial Wall, a space where anyone who knew him could share cherished memories.
Daisy recalled a special day spent with Bryson for his 10th birthday in January 2025. She and her fiancé took him to play laser tag, where they enjoyed countless rounds, arcade games, and prizes.
At the end of the night, Bryson’s face lit up with a huge smile as he hugged Daisy and declared, “That was the best day ever!” That memory, Daisy wrote, will stay with her forever, along with the image of his infectious grin.
Todd, Bryson’s father, has also found comfort in sharing stories of his son.
In a heartfelt post, he described Bryson’s championship game, not just for its athletic feats but for the kindness Bryson showed afterward.
“Bryson had such a kind heart for all ❤”

To help ease the financial burden of Bryson’s funeral and memorial services, Amy’s cousin, Nick Brantner, launched a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $50,000.
All donations will go directly to the family to cover funeral and burial expenses, as well as provide additional support as they navigate life without their beloved boy.
Additionally, a Meal Train has been organized with a goal of $2,500 to provide meals for the family, offering them one less thing to worry about during this difficult time.
