Announces 94 WIP Departure
On Monday’s broadcast, Jon Marks, the host of 94.1 WIP for the past six years, surprised listeners by announcing his departure from the station.
Expressing deep emotions, Marks described the decision as challenging but necessary, revealing his intention to prioritize spending more quality time with his family.
He confirmed that his final day on air will be Wednesday.
Reflecting on his tenure, Marks acknowledged the show’s significance in his career. He remarked,
“This is the show that you wait your whole career for. You don’t leave that show — you stay with the show, you make it better, and you continue to do it. But where I am with my life, and where my kids are, … I thought, ‘Can I do this another five years?’ And I just can’t imagine not having dinner with all my kids.”
Marks initially joined WIP in 2017 as the evening host and transitioned to the afternoon slot later that same year, teaming up with former Eagles linebacker Ike Reese.
Together, they not only bolstered the show’s ratings but also consistently surpassed their competitor, 97.5 The Fanatic, after the exit of Mike Missanelli.
Ike Reese highlighted Marks’ struggle to balance work commitments with family obligations over recent years. Expressing gratitude and admiration, Reese stated,
“Thank you for all the contributions to the show. Thank you for being a great driver of the show. And I love you and I’m going to miss you.”
As of now, it remains uncertain who will step into Marks’ shoes on the show.
