Logan Couture stepped into this world on March 28, 1989, to his parents Chet and Lori Couture, in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. His nationality is Canadian, and he belongs to the white race.

Couture spent most of his childhood in Birr, near London, Ontario, with his younger brother by two years, Judson.

He completed his grades seven and eight from Prince Andrew Public School and Northridge Public School. And later, he accomplished all of his high school at A.B. Lucas Secondary School.

Couture was an expert on hockey, lacrosse, and baseball since his early days. His parents would make a seasonal expenditure of $7000 on travel, sports, and equipment.

As a child, he was also a  Canadian national champion Honda Canada/Toronto Blue Jays “hit-run-throw” contest two times. Coincidentally, Logan picked up a pair of Sharks pajamas when he was four.

Subsequently, slowly and gradually, with the pace of time, he decided to go for hockey instead of the other two games when he was just thirteen. Besides that, Couture is also fond of the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills.

Couture comes from a family that has a complete sports background.  His father, Chet, is a former ice hockey player for OHA.

To point out, he was a senior-level hockey player for thirteen years, a Lacrosse referee, and a Lacrosse player for OLA.  Additionally, he is currently the Captain of the London Fire Department.

Couture’s maternal grandfather, the late CY Lemon, is a Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame Freshman. His paternal grandfather, Bob Couture, was a guitarist and a softball pitcher.

His uncle, Brian Lemon, is a former professional Major Indoor Lacrosse League (MILL) player and OLA lacrosse player and currently serves as the NLL vice-president of operations.

Moreover, It’s not about only his family. He was born to be surrounded by players all the time since his birth.

According to his mother, the nurse who helped in her delivery, Bernadette Devorski, is NHL referee Paul and NHL linesman Greg Devorski.

While growing up in Birr, near London, Ontario, he started playing minor hockey with the Lucan Irish (DD) of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA)’s Southwestern Ontario League.

Following that, he headed his team to win over the OMHA’s Red Lobster Cup for an SW Ontario title in 1998.

He also grabbed the OMHA All-Ontario DD title the same year and again in 2001, but this time, it was with the Irish Atom Team. Both the teams, Novice and Atom, we’re entitled to the International Silver Stick ‘C’ championships.

Later on, Couture shifted to London and played with the ‘AAA’ London Junior Knights of the Minor Hockey Alliance League for three years.

He was teamed up with the current defenceman Drew Doughty, who plays for Los Angeles Kings.

And then, he moved on to play with the Junior B St. Thomas Stars.

Couture was selected by the Ottawa67’s of the Ontario Hockey League in the 2005 OHL Priority Draft when he was sixteen. 

He scored 64 points in 65 games as a rookie player, ranking third in the league, but John Tavares and Sergei Kostitsyn left him behind.

While most of the players keep waiting to get placed as a roster player, Couture was appointed to the OHL roster for the  ADT Canada-Russia Challenge, replacing Jordan Staal in 2006.

Nevertheless, he also played for the Eastern Conference in the 2006  OHL All-Star Game and later won the shooting accuracy competition. He also upgraded his scores to 78 points in 54 games there.

The  San Jose Sharks of NHL drafted him in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Couture had his junior low points when he played for 67’s and could score 58 points in 51 games.

However, he was listed for the 2008 OHL All-Star Game but was replaced by Michael Swift due to injury.

Couture also played in the 2009 OHL All-Star Game. by the end of the season 2009, he was also named OHL player of the Week.

2009-2013

Couture made an official debut in NHL when he played against the Philadelphia Flyers for the Sans on October 25, 2009. 

His alleged goal was against Chris Osgood of the Detroit Red Wings on November 5. Moreover, he also scored playoff goals against the Colorado Avalanche in Game 5 of the  2010 Stanley Cup playoffs.

He was regarded as the team’s root when they won the 2009–10 American Hockey League (AHL)’s Worcester Shark, where he appeared in 42 games and scored 20 goals and 33 assists for 53 points.

Later, he was titled to the AHL All-Rookie Team and led his way to a nomination for the Calder Memorial Trophy.

Only expertise gets a chance to be nominated, like Michael Grabner and Jeff Skinner, the last-mentioned, took the award.

Subsequently, Couture extended a two-year contract worth $5.75 million in 2011, prolonged to the 2013-14 season.

But due to the 2012–13 NHL lockout, Couture played for Genève-Servette HC. But yes, after the dispute was sorted, he was back to the Sharks and played in all 48 regular seasons and 11 playoff games.

Couture ended up signing a five-year, $30 million contract extension on July 5, 2013.  He marked his 100th career regular-season goal, against the Anaheim Ducks, on December 29, 2013.

2014-2019

The start of 2014 was not that good for Couture, as he had to undergo wrist surgery on January 8, and thus, he missed six weeks of the game. Unfortunately, his story of injuries did not end up here.

It was heard that he again had to go through surgery on his hand, as he suffered his hand in a fight with Los Angeles’ Mike Richards in Game 6 of the 2014 seven-game playoff series.

Eventually, they lost to the Kings and could not win the Stanley Cup champions.

He suffered from a broken fibula in practice and again suffered an arterial bleed. The latter injury led him to remedial surgery. So, unfortunately, he missed 30 games for the season 2015-16.

Later, he did lead his team to the Stanley Cup finals, where they lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games. Then, he replaced the Dallas Stars’ Jamie Benn in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

Couture has signed an eight-year contract worth $64 million in late 2018 with the Sharks. Since then, he has been playing actively for the Sharks and leading all playoffs in goals. He also got the captaincy offer in the 2019-20 season.

This was said to be his second-time captaincy experience. The first was with the Ottawa 67’s in 2008–09. Couture fractured his left ankle on January 9, 2020.
