Lorena H.S. Football Player Landon Harris, 18, Dies In Car Accident, Leaving His Parents, Kerry And Amanda Behind

Landon Harris, a beloved Lorena High School student-athlete, passed away in a tragic car accident at the untimely age of 18, leaving his parents, siblings, and loved ones devastated.

According to reports, the 18-year-old high school athlete Landon Harris died in Lee County near the Milam County line on Tuesday, May 29, 2025, after a head-on collision at approx 7 a.m.

Moreover, the Texas Department of Public Safety stated that Landon Harris, driving a Toyota Tacoma, was traveling southbound on US 77, struck a Dodge Ram driving northbound after veering into the lane.

Both Harris and the passenger, 36-year-old Jarret Hawkins, died as a result of the tragic collision.

Similarly, the Dodge Ram’s driver was identified as 49-year-old Daniel Phillips, who also died at the scene.

Landon Harris was an amazing athlete, playing baseball and football at Lorena High School.

He was in his senior year at Lorena High School and was showcasing his amazing football skills playing for the school’s boys varsity football team wearing jersey number 32.

The late Landon Harris also led his baseball and football teams to several victories and won several honorable titles.

Landon Harris was known not only for his athletic skills but also for his kind and cheerful nature.

The untimely passing of Landon Harris has left a profound void in the lives of his parents, siblings, and loved ones.

Many of his friends and loved ones send their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time and recall the memories of late Landon Harris.

The Lorena, Texas, community has also created a GoFundMe page to help Landon Harris’ family cover the funeral and memorial costs.

The fundraisers aim to raise $40k, and to date, they have raised around $34,211, which is 86 percent of the total goal.

Born in September 2006 in Lorena, Texas, Landon Harris was the beloved and eldest son of his father, Kerry D. Harris, and mother, Amanda Honey Harris.

Moreover, Landon Harris was not just an amazing athlete but also a great son to his parents, Kerry and Amanda.

Landon Harris’s love for his family was immense. He often shared pictures of his parents and family on his social media, expressing his love for them.

Likewise, Kerry and Amanda often share a picture of their beloved son Landon, expressing their love and pride in him.

While very little information about Landon Harris’ parents, Amanda and Kerry, is available as they prefer to maintain a low profile, his father, Kerry, is a former athlete.

Although his mother, Amanda, didn’t play sports, he stood by Landon Harris’ side as his constant supporter in both his on-field and off-field journey.

Amanda’s Facebook profile shows she is a Texas Tech University alum working at Baylor Scott and White Health.

Her recent social media post also highlights her pride in her late son Landon’s sports achievement, celebrating his victory in the World Series Championship with the Texas Senator Baseball Waco team.

In addition to his parents, Landon Harris also leaves behind three siblings: his elder sister Kaitlyn Makenzie Harris, younger sister Braylee Harris, and younger brother.

Like Landon Harris, both of his sisters are amazing athletes; his elder sister, Kaitlyn Makenzie, played softball and was in the cheerleading team at Lorena High School.

Similarly, his younger sister, Braylee Harris, is showcasing her amazing sprinting skills playing for the Track and Field team at Lorena High School.

Both of his sisters took to their social media to pay tribute to their beloved brother Landon Harris.
