Lou Williams ethnicity is African-American, and though some believe he is Somali, the basketball player has previously cleared the rumors. Williams is also believed to be a Christian.

The three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year winner, Lou Williams, announced his retirement earlier this year. The Memphis native Williams retired from the NBA as the man with the most points off the bench with 13,396 points.

Since his retirement, Williams has been active on various platforms. Recently, Williams was announced as one of the newest hosts of FanDuel’s daily news NBA Show, “Run It Back.”

In the show, the former Clippers point guard expressed frustration over the Clippers’ choice of trading Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in 2019. SGA is now a star at OKC, and the two players for whom he was traded, Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, haven’t found their groove at the franchise.

Lou Williams Ethnicity & Religion

Lou Williams comes from a family of African-American ethnicity. There was a time when Williams was believed to be a Somali, but Williams discarded those rumors.

In a 2014 Tweet, Williams shared, “For the record… I’m not Somali.. lol now moving on..” The joke probably started because of the 2013 Oscar-nominated movie Captain Phillips and how similar he looked to Barkhad Abdie, the Somali-American actor.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Williams graduated from South Gwinnett High School in Snellville, Georgia. His mother moved him to Atlanta after he started mixing with the wrong group in Memphis.

His father, Willie Louis Williams, passed away from a heart attack when he was nine, and his parents had already separated. As a kid, Lou was more into baseball, and in an interview, he said his father would’ve been surprised if he saw him today.

A former military man, Willie Louis Williams, as described by his son, wasn’t an athletic man. Lou says his memories of his father are hazy, but the former NBA star says they had a great relationship.

His mom, Janice Faulkner, currently handles operations as the Executive Director of the Lou Williams Foundation.

Talking about his religion, some websites believe Lou Williams is part of the Jehovah’s Witness. But we aren’t entirely sure as the basketball player hasn’t confirmed anything related to his faith.

Lou Williams And His Two Baby Mamas

The retired NBA player Lou Williams isn’t married but has three kids from his two relationships. His first baby mama is Ashley Henderson, with whom he shares two girls, Jada and Zoey.

His first daughter, Jada, was born in 2011, and earlier this year narrated his retirement video. The former Clippers player’s second child, Zoey, was born in 2014.

Ashley gained public attention through her fitness videos on Instagram and was famously in a polyamorous relationship with the basketball player and his second baby mama, Rece Mitchell.

Rece and Lou share a son, Syx, born in 2019. Rece has even established a fitness apparel brand named after her son called Syx Athletics.

During their relationship, Ashley was referred to as the “Blonde” one, and Rece was labeled the “Brown” one. Lou has been open about his relationship with the two women and has said he respects them both as they are the mothers of his kids.

Previously, in an interview, Williams expressed his frustration over the unwarranted criticism he receives over his relationship. The two women are comfortable in their relationship with Lou and even share a strong bond with each other, so there is certainly no trouble in the paradise for the basketball player.
