Standing up for yourself is about protecting your own well-being.

Christine Washington alleges that her daughter and nieces have been missing out on school sports for speaking up against bullying.

Kristana, Nya Kya, and Amari have been in sports since middle school looked them up.

There’s a crucial difference between bullying and self-advocacy.

True bullying seeks to harm, and self-respect seeks to create mutual respect.

Bullying is about power and harm. It’s targeting someone with the intent to intimidate, hurt, or control them, and is often one-sided and unprovoked.

Standing up for yourself is about respect and safety. It’s a response to someone overstepping your boundaries.

Healthy boundaries aren’t mean, but they are necessary.

Louisiana Family Alleges Sports Retaliation After Anti-Bullying Stand

A Louisiana mother, Christine Washington, claimed her daughter and two nieces are facing severe athletic consequences after standing up against bullies.

She states that her 16-year-old daughter and her nieces, all dedicated student-athletes, were targeted by older individuals.

A physical altercation ensued, which Washington says was in self-defense.

According to her, the fallout has been devastating for their sports careers.

She shared that one niece missed a crucial opportunity to potentially run track at McNeese State University, while another niece has missed basketball games.

Similarly, her own daughter’s off-season volleyball training has been disrupted. She denies claims that her child or nieces are bullies.

Don’t ever call my baby a bully if y’all don’t know her. I didn’t raise my kids to be bullies!!! I raise them to step up to bullies.

Christine Washington

Washington believes the girls are being unfairly punished for defending themselves and alleges that the bullies have flipped the whole story.

She points to video footage from the Walmart store that she claims supports their version of events. She is frustrated that the girls’ reputations and athletic futures are now in jeopardy.

When U Stand Up For Ur Self U A Bully. Y’all only got 1 side of the story. Y’all took my child and nieces’ kindness to weakness. They play sports and got in a fight until these dumb decided they could have beaten them up for apparently no reason.

Christine Washington

Washington’s daughter and niece’s careers are on the line and call for prayers and understanding for the teenagers involved.

She vowed to continue defending the girls, insisting their actions were born out of solidarity and self-preservation, not aggression.

The matter is reportedly under investigation.

That lady deserves to be where she’s at, your baby handled herself as she should my girl 🤞🏻
They did what they had to do, take them to celebrate my girl 🫶🏻
