LSU student Thatcher Hurd comes from an athletic family, with parents Andy and Julie who have been unwavering in supporting his and his brother Logan’s baseball careers.
Thatcher Hurd was born to his parents, Andy and Julie Hurd. Hurd is a talented baseball player who plays as a pitcher at LSU.
He had an exceptional debut season in 2022. He demonstrated his talent on the mound with a 2-0 record and an impressive 1.06 ERA.
Thatcher’s control was remarkable, as he recorded ten walks and an impressive 48 strikeouts in just 34 innings, limiting opponents to a meager .138 batting average.
His outstanding achievements earned him recognition, including the Pitcher of the Week honor. Alongside his on-field success, Hurd is a very generous person.
In February 2023, he donated 100% of his NIL money to provide 30,000 pounds of food for the Baton Rouge Food Bank.

Andy Hurd, Thatcher’s father, is a partner at Cressey & Company. He joined Cressey in 2018 with 30 years of healthcare and IT leadership experience.
Andy has previously served as the CEO of three successful healthcare technology businesses, MedeAnalytics, Epocrates, and Carefx.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Northern Arizona University and serves on the Innovations Advisory Board of Mass General Brigham. He played basketball in his University days.
Similarly, Julie Hurd, Thatcher’s mother, works in Insight Psychotherapy.
She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University and works as an LPCC trainee under the supervision of Janet Bayramyan, LCSW.
She has a background in corporate sales and marketing management.
Julie later shifted her focus to the education field, where she gained experience as an elementary school classroom instructor and high school academic support coach.
As a mother and spouse, Julie has facilitated support groups for parents navigating the challenges and joys of family life.
Julie believes that life is full of transitions. She compassionately helps clients gain clarity, release past burdens and embrace new dreams for the future.

Thatcher is in a relationship with Riley O’Brien. The couple went public about their relationship in November 2022. Riley has gained a significant following on Instagram, boasting over 7,000 followers.
As an Alpha Phi member at LSU, Riley embodies a spirit of personal growth and connection. Her Instagram feed reflects her philosophy of “Live more, love more,” showcasing her zest for life, love, and adventure.
Brother Logan
College Baseball Player Logan Hurd is the brother of Thatcher Hurd. Logan is a student-athlete at Loyola Marymount University.
Logan’s collegiate debut was against USC, where he threw 1.0 inning of relief and impressed with three strikeouts. One of his notable performances was when he pitched a season-high 1.1 innings against Washington.
Before attending college, Hurd graduated from Acalanes High School in 2020. During his time there, he played under the guidance of head coach Connor Hornsby.
