Lucas Wallmark Early Life

On September 5, 1995, he was born to his father, Peter Wallmark, and his mother, Cathrine Wallmark. Lucas Wallmark spent his childhood in his hometown Umeå, Sweden.

Lucas Wallmark made his debut during the 2012-2012 Elitserien season by representing Skellefteå AIK. However, he moved to the rivals Luleå HF. Lucas represented Luleå HF for the upcoming three seasons. 

Moreover, he was drafted during the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the Hurricanes in the 4th round.

Furthermore, he signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes on June 11, 2015.  

Lucas then scores his first NHL goals with the Hurricanes on December 30, 2017, during the 2017-18 season. He scored the memorable goal in a match against St. Louis Blues.

Later in 2018, Lucas was reassigned to the Charlotte Checkers. He was named the Checkers’ MVP. However, the team was eliminated from the 2018 Calder Cup playoffs.

Carolina Hurricanes

Lucas played over 160 season games in the NHL with Carolina from 2016-17 to 2019-20. In addition, he accumulated 54 points (22-32-54). Furthermore, he has recorded five points (1-4-5) over 15 career Stanley Cup Playoff games. 

Besides, Lucas has a win percentage of 50.9 with the Hurricanes. Moreover, he has an average of 1:04 of ice time on the penalty kill and the fourth-best success rate (84 percent).

Florida Panthers

During the 2019-20 season, Lucas accumulated a career-high 11 goals throughout the 60 games. Shortly after, on February 24, 2020, he was traded alongside Eetu Luostarinen, Chase Priskie, and Erik Haula by the Carolina Hurricanes.

The roaster was traded with the Florida Panthers in exchange for Vincent Trocheck. Lucas Wallmark was able to score one goal and achieve an assist after seven games with the Panthers. 

Lucas made his return in the qualifying rounds after the COVID-19 pandemic for the post-season. However, he plays two games without contributing a single goal. 

Chicago Blackhawks

Lucas was an impending restricted free agent for the Panthers. Thus, he was not offered any contract by the Panthers. It ended his tenure with the club on October 9, 2020. 

During his last season with the Carolina Hurricanes, Lucas tallies 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) in 60 games.

On October 12, 2020, he signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks as a free agent. The contract was worth $950,000. 

Lucas Wallmark goes on tally two points (one goal, one assist) for the Panthers in seven contests.

‘Next step’ with Hawks

Lucas Wallmark did not receive any offer from the Panthers. It made him an unrestricted free agent.

Nonetheless, he is a caliber player with 56 points (23 goals, 33 assists) in four NHL seasons across 167 games. Furthermore, he accumulated points (one goal, four assists) throughout 17 career playoff games.
