A 17-year-old promising talent in US cycling, Magnus White, tragically lost his life on Saturday. He was about to take part in the upcoming world championships. 

The teenager was involved in a collision while cycling near his residence in Boulder, Colorado.

At the tender age of 10, he commenced his racing career on a national scale.

In 2021, White achieved victory in the USA Cycling National Championship, showcasing his exceptional skills.

His impressive performances in Europe caught the attention of selectors, leading to his inclusion in the 2022 World Championships team.

Following his tragic death, friends and relatives have created a GoFundMe page to support Magnus’s family. 

Magnus White’s Cause Of Death Was Due To Accident 

Magnus White was struck and killed by a vehicle while he was on a training ride near his home in Boulder, Colorado.

The accident occurred when a 23-year-old woman driving a Toyota Matrix hit him from behind at around 12:30 pm on Saturday.

The impact forced Magnus and his bike off the road, leading to a collision with a fence. Authorities from the Colorado State Patrol ruled out speed and alcohol as contributing factors to the crash.

On Sunday, USA Cycling issued a statement confirming Magnus White’s passing.

He was a rising star in multiple cycling disciplines, achieving victory in the Junior 17-18 Cyclocross National Championships in 2021 and securing a spot on the US national team.

This accomplishment was a pivotal moment for him, opening doors to race in Europe.

Magnus continued his success, participating in a full season of European Cyclocross racing with the USA Cycling National Team and concluding the year at the 2022 UCI Cyclocross World Championship in Arkansas.

He was also selected to represent the US at the cyclocross worlds in the Netherlands and earned a place on the Mountain Bike World Championships team for the summer.

During this season, Magnus White had started exploring road cycling and mountain biking in addition to his cyclocross pursuits.

His untimely death is a significant loss for the cycling community, as he was an exceptional talent with a promising future in the sport.

Magnus White was survived by his parents, Michael and Jill, as well as his brother, Eero.

He began his journey in competitive cycling at the age of 10, and the cyclist attributed his father as his inspiration, who had a background in road racing.

As he grew up, Magnus became deeply involved with cycling, thanks to his local team, Boulder Junior Cycling, which boasted exceptional coaches that played a pivotal role in shaping his career.

The aim of the fundraiser is to support the grieving family during this difficult time.

Following the creation of the GoFundMe campaign, numerous friends, families, and followers of Magnus White have stepped forward, offering generous donations and heartfelt messages.

They have honored the memory of the young cyclist and provided support and comfort to his loved ones.
