Authorities detail Robert “Bob” Vogel’s arrest on multiple child pornography and underage offense charges.
Robert “Bob” Gordon Vogel (born October 7, 1981) built an exceptional career as a professional marksman, competition shooter, and decorated law enforcement officer.
He remains the only law enforcement officer in history to win both World and National Championships in the practical pistol disciplines of IPSC and USPSA.
Raised on a farm in rural Saint Marys, Ohio, Vogel developed a deep connection to shooting, hunting, and the outdoors from a young age.
After graduating from high school in 2000, he entered a two-year Police Academy program while beginning his journey in competitive shooting.
Over the years, Vogel became a two-time world champion and 17-time national champion across three shooting disciplines.
Vogel’s law enforcement career spanned more than a decade, with over eight years spent as a full-time street cop and member of a county joint-department SWAT team.
As a firearms instructor for both his department and SWAT unit, he trained officers in advanced tactical skills.
His competitive record includes multiple USPSA and IDPA national and world titles, earning him Grand Master and Distinguished Master classifications.
In 2012, he also appeared as an expert on the History Channel’s Top Shot.
Arrest and Charges Against Robert “Bob” Vogel
On August 8, 2025, the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office arrested Vogel on six felony charges, including serious offenses involving minors and obscene materials.
According to arrest records, the charges include:
- Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor – Produce Materials
- Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor – Produce, Create, Direct Obscene Performance
- Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor – Buy, Procure, Possess Obscene Material
- Disrupting Public Service – Mass Communications Service
- Offenses Involving Underage Persons – Sell to/Purchase alcohol for minors (Two counts)
Authorities booked Vogel into the Auglaize County Jail, where he remains held without bond.
The allegations center on the production, possession, and procurement of obscene materials involving minors, as well as underage alcohol-related offenses.
His court appearance is scheduled in the coming days, and the case has drawn widespread attention due to his prominent career and public profile.
