Carrie, a University of Central Florida graduate, began her soccer career at a young age, and until 12, Carrie played against and only with boys.
Lawrence wasn’t born into a family that loved soccer. Her dad, David Lawrence, learned about the game through his kids.
David, a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, is the Director of the Gas Tribune Projects at Siemens Energy.
Carrie’s mom, Cindy Lawrence, works as an occupational therapist at Brevard County Public Schools. She graduated from the University of Florida and tied the knot with David in 1988.
Along with being parents to Carrie, the couple also have a son named Derek Lawrence. Carrie’s older brother is a Diabetes Sales Specialist for Vanigent, graduating from Florida Atlantic University in 2017.
Before joining the University of Central Florida in 2016, in her sophomore year, Carrie was part of the South Carolina Gamecocks.
In her one season at the University of South Carolina, Carrie played 20 games and scored one goal from the midfield. She was one of 24 players invited to the US U-19 Women’s National Team training camp in 2015.
For UCF, Carrie made 49 appearances and scored four goals. Since joining Orlando Pride in 2020, Carrie has made 14 starts for the NWSL team, fulfilling her dream of playing professional soccer.

Marta and Carrie Lawrence, teammates at Orlando Pride, first hinted they were together in June 2022.
The Brazilian soccer star shared a gallery of images from their vacation in Maui. In one of the pictures, Marta can be seen placing a sweet peck on her girlfriend’s cheeks.
Carrie seemingly confirmed she was dating Marta after sharing the first post of her girlfriend on November 29, 2022. Marta commented on the post “Te Amo,” which received hundreds of likes.
Earlier this year, on July 15, Marta wished Carrie on her 26th birthday, sharing a short video of their enjoyable memories and a cute video of Carrie singing.
Carrie also shared an appreciation post for Marta, who made her comeback from an injury that kept her on the sideline for ten months.
Before the Women’s World Cup began, Carrie also shared a couple of photos with Marta on her Instagram handle, captioning the post, “Summer is just getting started.”
Marta Was Previously Engaged To Toni Pressley
Many soccer fans might not even know Marta has been dating Carrie. They might still be hung up with the news of Marta’s engagement to her longtime partner Toni Pressley.
The former Orlando Pride teammates, Toni and Marta, began dating in 2017, the same year Marta joined the NWSL team from the Swedish league.
After years of dating, the couple announced their engagement on January 4, 2021. Pressley shared two photos of them posing with engagement rings and captioning the post, “Yes.”
But by the time 2022 came around, Marta and Toni were no longer a couple. Many of their fans even started to quiz the couple from November 2021, why they haven’t shared any pictures, and why the old photos were deleted in the comment sections.
But the reason behind their breakup remains unknown. The two have kept it classy and haven’t bad-mouthed each other after their breakup.
