Marysville Schools Face Backlash Over Allegations of Racist Incident in Athletics Program

A Facebook post by Joe Page has triggered widespread discussion in St. Clair County after he alleged that racism is occurring in Marysville schools and called for action from the district.

The post, which quickly gained attention online, led to a long thread of comments from parents and community members sharing reactions, concerns, and personal experiences connected to the school system.

Amanda Crocker wrote in an emotional comment that she was “utterly revolted by Marysville schools blatant disregard for RACISM in the school district,” adding that the issue involved her daughter.

She further stated, “Who’s up for a protest? Bc I’m about to show up to every softball game with a sign stating that Marysville High allows racial slurs in their own dugout,” and claimed that a teammate used a racial slur during a school sports setting.

Crocker said, “Nothing has been done about it, and nobody has been reprimanded,” expressing frustration over how the school handled the situation.

Lori Stak Krzemecki responded with support, writing,

“That is so sad. I feel very bad for your daughter. I would go to the superintendent of the schools. I would take it to the school board. I would not accept the way that was handled!!” “DONT STOP UNTIL THEY TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION.”

Steve Maxwell took a more cautious approach, commenting,

“I thought the school was doing an investigation? Shouldn’t we wait to hear what the investigation determines before we say the school is not doing anything about it?”

His remark reflected concern about concluding before official findings are released.

Dee N Ric wrote, “Racism is taught/ learned behavior and is not okay to take the high road and just tolerate it,” adding support for the parent speaking out.

Tori Robinson offered a procedural response, stating, “When issues arise it is my experience you should follow the chain of command,” and outlined steps including contacting coaches, athletic directors, principals, and the superintendent.

Other community members shared broader criticism of the district.

Stephanie R. Cannon commented, “Marysville has been like this for YEARS,” while Tracy Tosch wrote,

“I live in Marysville and went to school here too and it sounds like nothing has changed.”

Louie Ramirez stated, “Marysville is full of people like that,” reflecting frustration from some residents about long-standing issues in the community.

Not all comments focused on blame or anger. Melissa Marie Queen wrote, “Ong this is insane. This shouldn’t be allowed. Who ever said that should be banned,” while Anonymous participant 259 stated, “That player should be off the team and publicly reprimanded. There is no excuse for that behavior.”

Others encouraged formal action through the education authorities.

Jessica Stapleton advised,

“If you do not feel the school/district has taken sufficient measures, consider filing a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR).”

Some comments took a more reflective tone. PassionateOwl3627 wrote, “living well is the best revenge,” suggesting students should focus on personal growth, while Steven Rogers commented, “Well i know where my daughters won’t be going,” showing concern about school safety and environment.

The discussion also included strongly worded political and personal opinions from several users, highlighting deep divisions in how the community views both the incident and the broader school climate.

As of now, the situation remains under discussion online, with community members divided between those calling for immediate disciplinary action and those urging patience until the school’s investigation is completed.
