The former Texas Ranger Matt Bush is currently facing DWI after his arrest in connection to the multiple-car crash incident that occurred in Arlington on Friday, October 4, 2024.

According to Arlington police, they were first trying to stop the 2023 Lincoln Aviator, which, due to its high speed, caused a collision between multiple vehicles: a 2023 Chevy Silverado, a 2010 GMC Yukon, and a 2008 Toyota Corolla at the intersection of E. Pioneer Pkwy.

But, the driver, who was later discovered as the baseball pitcher Matt Bush, allegedly tried to flee the scene without giving a damn to the officials’ signals.

It was a group of bystanders who chased him while he was running out and helped the police department detain him.

Well, the accident didn’t cause any life-threatening situation, as none of the passengers or drivers from the collided vehicle had any severe injuries. But still, since Matt Bush broke the traffic rules by running a red light, he came under the law.

Meanwhile, officers suspect that the baseball pitcher was under the influence of heavy alcohol since he denied a roadside sobriety test. According to a CBS report, Matt’s blood sample was taken to the lab for further examination, and he is medically cleared as of now.

Currently, Matt Bush is at the Arlington City Jail, and authorities charged him with ‘one count of driving while intoxicated (DWI), one count of accident involving injury, and one count of evading.’

Matt Bush Previously Served Three And a Half Years of Imprisonment due to DWI Allegations!

It’s not the first time that Matt Bush came under the law due to alcohol-related issues. In March 2012, he allegedly caused an accident in Charlotte County, Florida, severely injuring a 72-year-old man named Tony Tufano on a motorcycle.

Officials accuse him of driving while intoxicated, and the baseball pitcher neither denied nor accepted the accusation. Following that, he went to jail and served 3.5 years of imprisonment before his release in 2015.

The same year, the Texas Rangers signed a contract with him for minor league baseball, and his major league debut with the same team was on May 13, 2016. In the meantime, while having a media interaction, Matt opened up about his trouble with alcohol, saying,

I realized I’m not the same person when I drink. I tend to make horrible choices. I don’t ever want to be that person again. I like myself today and being sober. I feel like I’m living a dream and I don’t ever want this to stop.

Precisely, eight years later, Matt Bush went on to the repeat phase and caused a scene under the influence, eventually ending up inside the prison.
