Matthew Stephen Leinart, famous as Matt Leinart, is a former American professional football player who appeared for seven seasons in the NFL. Following in his footsteps, Matt’s son, Cole, has already decided to be a football player, and we will see him in the future NFL draft.
The senior Leinart began his NFL career in 2006 after the Arizona Cardinals chose him as the tenth overall pick in that year’s draft.
Leinart attended Mater Dei High School and later committed to play for the USC Trojans.
The former football player was expected to make his professional debut after junior season, but he stayed with the USC Trojans for his senior year.
The NFL pundits and analysts had projected him to be the first overall pick in the 2005 draft.
Nevertheless, his decision to play for USC until his last year did not affect him much, as he remained among the top prospects for the 2006 draft.
Matt won numerous awards in his last two college seasons, including the Heisman Trophy and Walter Camp Award.
Considered one of the best collegiate athletes of all time, the USC Trojans honored him by retiring his jersey no. 11.
Matt Leinart Son: Cole Leinart Is Future NFL Star
Cole Cameron Leinart is the only child of the former NFL quarterback and his ex-girlfriend Brynn Cameron.
His parents dated while both were student-athletes at the University of Southern California. But, by the time Cole was born, they were already separated.
Currently, 16 years old, Cole has started showing signs that he is no different from his father.
A young boy with a huge body frame and strong arms, Cole has already started putting up good numbers on board at Mater Dei, the same high school his dad attended.
Last year, his team Mater Dei remained undefeated, and Cole played a crucial role in shattering the defenses of the opponent’s team.
Seen as one of the top high school quarterbacks, Cole has received offers from over a half dozen college teams, including the USC Trojans.
He will probably join the Trojans as he has already considered attending their weekend recruiting camp.
Aside from football, Cole is pretty good at playing basketball, probably getting that from his mother, as she is a former basketball player for the USC women’s basketball team.
But Cole, from the looks of it, is destined to be a football player like his dad. Who knows, he might become the next big thing in the NFL.
Cole’s Mom Is The Ex-Fiancee of Blake Griffin
Cole Leinart is related to the NBA player Blake Griffin through his mother. Brynn Cameron dated the Boston Celtics center for nearly a decade, starting in 2009.
The couple together has two children. After four years of togetherness, Brynn gave birth to their son, Ford Wilson Cameron-Griffin, on August 1, 2013.
Similarly, they welcomed their daughter, Finley Alaine Griffin, in 2016.
Cole also has two half-brothers from his dad’s second marriage. Matt married his second wife, Josie Loren, in 2018.
Loren is an attorney and a former actress who acted in TV series such as The Mentalist and Make It or Break It.
Besides, Cole has another popular figure in the family; the former NFL player Jordan Cameron is his maternal uncle.
