Matthew Tkachuk is an American Professional Ice Hockey Player for the Florida Panthers. He also has two siblings, Brady Tkachuk and Taryn Tkachuk, who are in a similar profession.

Matthew Tkachuk, including his siblings, has athletic blood, thanks to his father. Keith Tkachuk, a legendary ice hockey player, who played 18 years in the NHL.

Brady, 25, who is the younger brother and middle child of the three siblings, plays as a Left wing and also captains the Ottawa Senators.

Taryn, on the other hand, played field hockey for the University of Virginia from 2021 to 2024; she played in 69 games and scored 18 of them, with 7 being game-winners in the NCAA Championship and ACC tournaments.

Matthew Tkachuk Has The Upper Hand Over His Brother

Both Matthew and his brother, Brady, compete in the NHL’s Eastern Conference in the Atlantic Division, where their father never played.

Matthew started as a junior hockey player with the London Knights and scored the Memorial Cup-winning goal before getting drafted by the Calgary Flames in 2016 as a 6th overall pick.

He signed a three-year contract with the team and finally made his debut against the Edmonton Oilers. After six seasons with the Flames, he was traded to the Florida Panthers in July 2022.

Ever since the transfer, he has been a standout player for the team. He was named a Hart Trophy Finalist, won the NHL All-Star Game MVP, and led the Panthers to back-to-back Stanley Cup Wins in 2024 and 2025. The forward is also an alternate captain for the team.

While Matthew has had an outstanding career, his brother Brady is not too far behind. He also proved his potential in his College days by earning All-Hockey East Rookie Team Honors and spending two seasons with USA Hockey’s NTDP.

Brady was selected 4th Overall by the Senators (4th Overall) in the 2018 NHL Draft. He later made his debut on October 8, 2018, against the Boston Bruins.

Just after three years with the team, he was named the Captain, the youngest one in the Franchise. While he is yet to win any major trophy like his elder brother, he is definitely on the correct path, having played over 500 Professional games in his career and scoring almost 200 goals.

In Case You Didn’t Know

  • Matthew and Brady have played 24 games against each other; the Panthers’ man has come victorious on more occasions, 15, than his young brother, 9.
  • Both have scored seven goals in 24 games. Also, both Tkachuu brothers scored in the same game three times.
  • They have also represented the USA together in the Four Nations Face-Off (February 2024).
