American mixed martial artist Max Holloway, recently ranked in the no.2 position in the UFC featherweight rankings, has been happily married to his wife Alessa Quizon, a professional surfer from Hawaii, since 2022.
Max’s wife, Alessa, has aspired to be a surfer since childhood, but her professional career began with participating in the 2009 Championship tour.
While having an exclusive talk with Into The Gloss, Alessa disclosed about how she became interested in surfing and said,
I love anything to do with the ocean. When I was two I was thrown in the water, and I fell in love. And then I started surfing at four—my dad taught me. Surfing’s been in my family for two or three generations now. There’s no other feeling in the world like riding a wave.

Well, surfing started just as a hobby in Alessa’s life initially, but since she grew up seeing her older sister participate in several contests, she decided to follow in her sister’s footsteps.
The now-wife of Max Holloway was 11 years old when she became involved with the company Billabong, which focused on surfing.
Later, the same company sponsored her on her world tour, paying all her travel and business expenses.
On the World Tour, she competed in surfing competitions for people aged 17 to 32 and placed seventeenth.
Later, Alessa gushed about how important surfing has become and said she never gets tired of it.
I’m not the type of girl who wakes up in the morning and puts on makeup or does her hair. The kind of life I live, I’m surrounded by a beach pretty much all day. I’ll wake up, I’ll surf, come back, eat, train, go surf again,….Then I’m in bed, and repeat. It’s been that way pretty much my whole life.
She often passionately pursues many contests, but participating in the Women’s Pro Semi-Finals in Honolua Bay makes her proud. During an interview with Free Surf magazine, she said,
I am proud of making semis last year at Honolua. Of course I wanted to make the finals but that event was unreal. The waves were amazing, it took place in our homeland and most of my family were there to support me! I love that wave and that year we got to make Hawaii proud.
