The Decatur, Texas community is mourning the untimely death of beloved resident and middle school student-athlete, Treb McKinnon.
According to reports, Treb McKinnon lost his life in a side-by-side ATV crash. He was riding in the off-road vehicle with three other juveniles when the accident occurred.
The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025, in the 300 block of County Road 3250. The incident claimed Treb’s life and left the other three riders with severe injuries.
Wise County EMS transported Treb and two of the juveniles to Medical City Decatur. One of the critically injured juveniles was later airlifted to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth by PHI Air Medical.
Another juvenile suffered serious injuries and received treatment in Decatur, while the fourth had minor injuries and did not require ambulance transport from the scene.
Furthermore, the untimely death of Treb McKinnon has left a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, and loved ones.
Treb McKinnon touched many in the community with his amazing athletic skills and cheerful nature.
He was a seventh-grade student at Decatur ISD’s McCarroll Middle School and was a proud member of the school’s football team.
Wearing jersey #4, Treb played for the Decatur Eagles and led his team in several victories.
Social Media is Filled With Heartfelt Tributes to Late Treb McKinnon
Many of Treb McKinnon’s loved ones are recalling his memories on social media and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.
Decatur ISD took to its official social media to express its sorrow at the loss of a beloved student-athlete and to extend its condolences to his family.
The post reads:
“We ask that you keep the McKinnons close in your hearts and in your prayers. Our, school community is holding this family in love and support during an unimaginable time of grief.”
Decatur ISD officials stated counselors will be available at McCarroll Middle School on Monday, December 1, to support students, families, and staff and to grieve the loss.
Similarly, another added:
“Sweet Trebby, I’ll never forget be being your “Maymee”! You were so little and couldn’t pronounce Amy so we just went with it! You had the world in the palm of your hands! You were absolutely beautiful “had been since you were born”, those big brown eyes, the kindness shown in your smiles, so funny, an amazing athlete & student, and one of the sweetest souls you will ever know! I have peace knowing you are with the King of Kings Lord of Lords and the Waymaker so show us how to grieve & how to restart a life here on earth without someone we love so much! My heart is shattered but I rest in the truth of God, that we will all be together in Heaven! I will forever miss my Trebby! 💔🙏🏻”

Treb McKinnon is survived by his parents, Trey and Andrea McKinnon, his siblings, Jayci and Covey, and the entire family.
While his family hasn’t released any statement regarding the untimely passing of Treb, they often share pictures of him on social media expressing their love and pride.
Furthermore, Treb’s loved ones gathered at First Baptist Church on November 30, 2025, to grieve the loss and honor him.
