American tennis player McCartney Kessler earned her third career title on June 22 by defeating Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska in the Nottingham Open final.
The match was delayed by rain, but Kessler stayed focused and won in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5, finishing the game in just over an hour and a half.
Similarly, the second set was more competitive, with both players staying even at 3-3. But Kessler held her ground and managed to pull ahead to finish the match.
Afterward, she shared how happy she was to win another title and also gave credit to Yastremska for being a formidable opponent, noting they’ve had some close battles in the past.
Off the court, Kessler has a strong support system.
She married her husband, Zach, last December during a break in the season.

Kessler met Zach through her family, and the two got married during the off-season in December, a perfect break from the long tennis schedule.
She says the wedding gave her something exciting to focus on after a tiring season.
While she still stayed active on court, most of her off-season was spent enjoying time with loved ones and preparing for the big day, which helped her recharge both mentally and emotionally.
Between her wedding in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and a honeymoon trip to Cabo, McCartney Kessler didn’t take much time off.
Instead, she dove into her first full pre-season as a WTA player, ready to build on the momentum she had gained.
