American tennis player McCartney Kessler earned her third career title on June 22 by defeating Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska in the Nottingham Open final.

The match was delayed by rain, but Kessler stayed focused and won in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5, finishing the game in just over an hour and a half.

Similarly, the second set was more competitive, with both players staying even at 3-3. But Kessler held her ground and managed to pull ahead to finish the match.

Afterward, she shared how happy she was to win another title and also gave credit to Yastremska for being a formidable opponent, noting they’ve had some close battles in the past.

Off the court, Kessler has a strong support system.

She married her husband, Zach, last December during a break in the season.

McCartney Kessler And Zachary Adams Balance Love, Career, And Tennis In A Busy Off-Season

Zachary Adams is a commercial risk management professional based in Atlanta, Georgia.

He began his full-time career at Aon, where he worked as an Associate Account Executive for three years.

Next, he gained experience helping a range of clients, from mid-size businesses to large multinational companies.

Well, he graduated from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business with a degree in Risk Management and Insurance.

While in college, he was an active member of several professional organizations, including the CPCU Society and Gamma Iota Sigma, and completed internships and capstone projects focused on corporate risk and employee relations.

Outside of his professional life, Zach has also volunteered with the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia and has a background in team sports, having played basketball in high school.

Kessler met Zach through her family, and the two got married during the off-season in December, a perfect break from the long tennis schedule.

She says the wedding gave her something exciting to focus on after a tiring season.

While she still stayed active on court, most of her off-season was spent enjoying time with loved ones and preparing for the big day, which helped her recharge both mentally and emotionally.

Between her wedding in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and a honeymoon trip to Cabo, McCartney Kessler didn’t take much time off.

Instead, she dove into her first full pre-season as a WTA player, ready to build on the momentum she had gained.

In Case You Didn’t Know

  • Her love for tennis runs in the family as both of her parents, Carl and Julie Kessler, played college tennis at the University of Central Florida.

  • She was named an All-American three times and made the First Team All-SEC three times as well.
