Until the legal fees are paid, Zie remains separated from his family.

In McKinney, Texas, 11-year-old Zie Randel, a kind and generous boy described as a “ray of sunshine” by his mother, has faced a life-altering challenge after being wrongfully accused of a serious crime six months ago, a charge his family and supporters affirm he did not commit.

Zie Randel, a fifth-grade football player, saw his life change dramatically when someone made a false accusation against him, but the community united to support him and bring him home.

A Nightmare Begins

The 11-year-old was pulled from his classroom and taken to a juvenile detention center.

For 10 long nights, Zie was alone, scared, and separated from his mother and younger sister.

The specific details of the crime he was accused of have not been publicly disclosed, but the impact on Zie and his family is painfully clear.

He spent those nights in detention, unable to understand why his life had been turned upside down.

Zie missed his football team’s Super Bowl game, a moment he had worked hard to be part of.

He lost the chance to celebrate with his teammates, and worse, he lost the sense of safety and belonging that every child deserves.

His friends drifted away, and whispers followed him.

Even his younger sister felt the weight of the situation. She had to leave school to escape the stares and gossip from her peers.

Keyandre, Zie’s single mother, was forced to make an unimaginable choice: uproot her family and move to a new city to protect her children from the stigma and judgment in their community.

For six months, Zie has not been able to sleep in his own bed or live under the same roof as his mom and sister. The emotional toll has been immense for this tight-knit family.

Keyandre, a single mother of two, has been Zie’s most powerful supporter.

She describes her son as a friendly, kind-hearted boy who lights up any room. Despite the challenges, Zie has shown incredible strength.

During this tough time, he made the honor roll at school. This shows his strength and determination.

But the fight for justice has come at a steep cost.

Keyandre set up a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the overwhelming legal expenses that have piled up.

She explains,

“As a single mother with two kids who did not ever think something like this could happen to us our world fell apart in an instant and I have been trying my best to pay for these fees however life in general is costly.”

The cost of legal representation, investigations, and court appearances has totaled an estimated $4,000.

Even though the truth is coming to light and the case is being dropped, Zie cannot come home until these attorney fees are paid in full.

Keyandre’s words on the GoFundMe page are heartfelt:

“He was accused of a crime he did not commit . In turn Zie was placed in a detention center for two weeks and it has been a challenge for him dealing with this ordeal. It has been a challenge for my daughter and I as well to help him navigate through this and get back to normalcy after being pulled away from everything and everyone he loved.”

The McKinney Community And Beyond Have Stepped Up To Support Zie And His Family

Friends, neighbors, and even strangers have shown an outpouring of love and generosity.

Yolanda Williford Burreson, a close family friend, shared her support on social media:

“I dont know the details but this family I love like my own! The sweetest kids and Key… man say the sweetest caring person you could ever meet. She is raising these babies on her own. I know for a fact that this baby couldn’t hurt a fly! Any donation or shares would help put this nightmare behind them!! Thank you in advance!!!”

However, not everyone understands the legal barriers the family faces.

Rodney Paulk expressed frustration, writing,

“But this don’t make sents
Have2 pay the lawyer fee? First?
B4 they let him out?
That don’t add up there’s something up with this. Something is not right
Hell! No!”

His words reflect the confusion and anger many feel about a justice system that can separate an innocent child from their family due to unpaid legal fees.

The justice system can be costly, even for those who are innocent.

Keyandre has been working tirelessly to cover the attorney fees, but as a single mother, the financial burden is overwhelming. “Life in general is costly,” she wrote, explaining how unexpected legal battles have strained her resources.

Every dollar raised through the GoFundMe campaign will go directly toward attorney fees and essential legal expenses, helping to finally close the case and bring Zie home.

The community’s support has been a lifeline.

The GoFundMe campaign, started by Keyandre, has already touched the hearts of many, raising funds to help cover the $4,000 needed.

Each donation, no matter how small, brings Zie closer to reuniting with his family and rebuilding the life that was taken from him.

Despite recent challenges, Zie’s spirit remains strong. His mother describes him as a joyful boy who loves football and his friends.

Recently, Keyandre noted, “Over the last month, everything has been getting back to normal.” Zie’s determination is evident, as he earned a spot on the honor roll.

The case being dropped is a major victory, but the fight isn’t over yet.

Until the legal fees are paid, Zie remains separated from his family.

This shows how quickly a child’s life can be disrupted by a wrongful accusation and how the justice system can place heavy burdens on families, especially single-parent households.

  1. Without knowing what he was falsely accused of, why does he has to pay to get to be free
? This being ridiculous and unbelievable! Innocent until proven guilty, has she no legal recourse for false imprisonment !

    ,

  2. The person that made the false accusations should be forced to pay his legal fees. If that person is a child, then his parents should have to pay those fees!

  3. This can’t be true.. they can’t detain a minor or anyone else for unpaid attorneys fees. Even if he committed the crime, he is entitled to post bond. Since it’s being dropped, there’s nothing keeping him in detention. “Innocent until proven guilty!” Too many red flags with this whole story!!
