It seems no argument is too minor!

Mean Girl Murders “Season 1, Episode 6: Clash Of the Coeds” shows a fallout and eventual murder of the popular basketball star, Tina Stewart.

On March 2, 2011, at an off-campus apartment near Middle Tennessee State University, students were in shock as Tina Stewart, a 21-year-old junior basketball guard, was stabbed to death by her roommate, Shanterrica Madden.

Unlike some of the episodes of the Mean Girl Murders, which were pre-planned, this stabbing came right after a heated moment between Shanterrica and Tina.

Madden, who was quiet and focused on herself, was very different from Tina, who was outgoing and well known on campus.

She was already a basketball star before entering the university, known for her shooting and clutch plays that earned her respect from her teammates.

Signs Were Visible, But The Attack Was Not Intentional

What led to the crime were arguments for weeks over lifestyle choices, visitors, and studying, which at first looked like normal roommate problems.

Tina often had friends over and was social, while Shanterrica wanted peace and quiet for studying. The two continued to clash, and no resolution was reached.

Madden, who was known for her quiet nature, was into Marijuana, which was reported to the University by Tina, which even gre the tensions between them.

On that March evening, another argument turned into a fight. In the middle of it, Shanterrica grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Tina in the chest. She was rushed to the Middle Tennessee Medical Center by her boyfriend, who called the emergency services.

Unfortunately, Tina later died from the wounds sustained by the stabbing. Police arrested Madden on the same night.

Madde was convicted of second-degree murder and found guilty of hiding the evidence. After the trials, she was sentenced to 29 years in prison.

The case shook not just MTSU, but Tennessee as a whole. The Community mourned Tina’s passing with vigils and memorials. This even opened a door to increase discussions to help resolve conflicts and increase college safety.
