From marrying Sarath Ton privately in 2016 to filing divorce papers in 2020, Mercedes Mone never spoke about her husband and love life until an interview in 2024.

Mercedes Mone, aka Sasha Banks, married the professional wrestler and costume designer Sarath Ton.

People often recognize Mercedes Mone’s husband by his ring name, Kid Mikaze. Kid Mikaze primarily works as a designer at WWE.

Ton began his career in wrestling and debuted in WWE in 2012, but later in-ring injury forced him to retire.

However, he later transitioned into costume designing for famous wrestling celebrities in numerous events.

As of 2024, the wrestling power couple Sarath Ton and Mercedes Mone announced a divorce after eight years.

Sarath Ton is a multifaceted professional, primarily known as a costume designer in professional wrestling, especially in WWE.

Before entering design, he began his journey with wrestling in the early 2000s under the ring name Kid Mikaze.

On November 2, 2002, he debuted in Premiere Foundation Northeast and gained limelight for his unique ariel stunts.

Kid Mikaze competed in Chaotic Wrestling and Top Rope Promotions throughout his career, earning multiple championships.

However, his career peaked during his brief stint in WWE, where he appeared as Rutherford Hayes in WWE Raw 2012.

Later, he debuted on NXT in 2015 but had to retire early following a severe head injury at an NXT taping.

After stepping away from the ring, Sarath pivoted towards fashion design. He began working full-time with WWE in 2015.

He started working for them when the board approached him to assist with costumes for WrestleMania 31.

The temporary gig evolved into a long-term contract with WWE as his gears were creative and visually appealing.

During the journey, Mercedes and Sarath crossed paths in 2010 while competing in independent wrestling circles.

Their initial meeting was nothing special but marked by a shared passion for wrestling, which became romance in nearly no time.

Reports suggest that Sarath offered her help with her wrestling gear, which eventually sparked their connection.

As they navigated their career, their shared love for wrestling deepened their bond, and their friendship became romantic.

After dating for approximately six years, the couple decided to take their relationship to marriage.

In August 2016, they married in a private ceremony away from the media’s prying eyes.

Mercedes’s husband established himself throughout their marriage, becoming a full-time costume designer for WWE talents.

However, the couple decided to live separately in 2020, and after four years, in 2024, Mercedes confirmed a divorce signing.

Though the WWE pair walked a beautiful journey together, they began experiencing challenges in their relationship.

Mercedes and Sarath culminated in their marriage in 2016 but had to part ways in December 2020.

Sarath moved out the following month, marking a significant shift in their personal and professional lives.

During that time, Mone was busy filming The Mandalorian and preparing for her role at WrestleMania 37.

Speaking about the situation, she said:

We got separated at the end of December of 2020. He finally moved out in January of 2021. I was shooting The Mandalorian, plus trying everything in my power to be the main event of WrestleMania.

Besides, several events and incidents marked the reasons behind the split, including her wrestling career.

The hectic nature of wrestling never allowed her to speak clearly about her separation publicly. She had to avoid scrutiny to keep up with the fast-paced nature of the WWE.

Former Sasha Banks expressed her concerns about how her journey could be affected, particularly Vince McMahon’s storyline decisions.

She further added:

of course I don’t want all of this stuff to get out because you don’t know what Vince [McMahon] is gonna do [and] you don’t know what he’s gonna change because Vince was very — um, I was in a storyline with Bianca.

Further, in an emotional video, Mercedes Mone broke her silence, her feelings about her divorce, and her desire to be free.

She stated she was ‘ready to be free’ after years of a beautiful yet hectic and tumultuous relationship.

  • Sarath Ton trained under local wrestler Kevin Landry in Massachusetts.
