Marcus Williams is a former tight end for the University of New Mexico Lobo team. Williams started his career in high school as he excelled at Cleveland High School, contributing as a receiver and a defensive player.
His senior year saw 56 receptions, 967 yards, and 13 touchdowns. Marcus also played a crucial role in the 2015 New Mexico State Championship-winning team.
Later, he joined the University of New Mexico, where he played in all 12 games in his freshman season, making modest statistical contributions.
During his sophomore year, he led Lobo tight ends with 13 receptions, 138 yards, and three touchdowns. Notably, he had a career-high three-pass, 32-yard game against Liberty. His early-season performances included two touchdowns against Incarnate Word, showcasing his scoring ability.
In his junior season, the tight end led Lobo tight ended with 26 receptions and 428 yards. He caught passes in 10 of 12 games, with a standout six-reception, 74-yard game against Nevada. The season ended on a high note with a crucial touchdown against Utah State.
Williams was also named the 39th-best player in the MWC. In 2020, Williams graduated from the University of New Mexico.

As mentioned earlier, Williams plays football, but not in the NFL. Sharing the same name with the current Ravens player, he sometimes became the unintended focus of social media confusion.

Many mistook Williams as, at the time, the New Orleans Saints Marcus Williams, who gained notoriety for a crucial missed tackle in the 2018 playoffs.
Amidst the situation, former UNM’s tight end, Williams, faced the heat, receiving around a hundred criticisms and messages on Twitter.
Despite the misunderstanding, the former Lobo tight end took it in stride and said, “It’s kind of funny. I just let it roll off my back.”
