A passionate and dedicated ice hockey player from Livonia, Logan Barnes, passed away unexpectedly in December 2025, at the age of 20.

Since the announcement of his death, many tributes have been shared in his honor, highlighting his character, leadership, and the impact he had on those around him.

As of now, no official or publicly confirmed cause of death has been released by the university or his family.

Logan Barnes Was A Dedicated Hockey Player and a Valued Member of the Lawrence Tech Community!

Logan Barnes was a young ice hockey player from Livonia, Michigan, who played for the Lawrence Technological University Spartans hockey program.

Born on February 27, 2005, he was a member of the Class of 2027.

He played ice hockey for the Lawrence Tech Spartans ACHA Division III team, wearing the No. 5 jersey.

Coaches and teammates described him as dependable, supportive, and deeply committed to the team’s success.

Outside of hockey, Logan was an active and valued member of the Lawrence Tech student body.

His passion for hockey, commitment to his education, and meaningful relationships made a lasting impact on everyone around him.

Logan’s sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, teammates, friends, and the entire Lawrence Tech and hockey communities.

This past weekend we lost one of our brothers Logan Barnes who was tragically taken from us Saturday night. Our hearts are broken over this unimaginable tragedy in our Blue Devil Hockey Family. Our deepest condolences, sympathies, and prayers go out to the Barnes family and all of Logan’s friends and loved ones

In a similar tribute, one of his teammates spoke about Logan’s character and impact, saying:

Can’t say enough good things about Logan as a person and a teammate. Rest in peace

Although he has passed away, his spirit and the mark he left on those around him will be remembered.
