Recently, Matt Weiss has been facing federal charges, and the case is ongoing.

On March 20, 2025, he was indicted on 24 federal charges, including unauthorized computer access and identity theft.

The allegations involve him hacking into databases of over 100 colleges and universities, targeting female college athletes to access private and intimate content.

This alleged activity spanned from 2015 to 2023. Weiss was fired from his position as the quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator at Michigan in 2023 following an investigation.

Born on March 1, 1983, in Cheshire, Connecticut, Matt Weiss is a former football coach. He played college football at Vanderbilt University and later became a coach.

He has not publicly shared much about his parents or family, maintaining low profile. Also, he doesn’t seem to be active on social media.

However, his upbringing in Connecticut and his academic and athletic pursuits suggest a supportive family background.

Matt attended Hopkins School, where he excelled in sports, particularly football and baseball.

Later, he went to Vanderbilt University and earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and human and organizational development.

While at Vanderbilt, he was a walk-on third-string punter for the football team. Additionally, he pursued a master’s degree in liberal arts at Stanford University while working as a graduate assistant.

His coaching career began at Smyrna High School, where he served as an assistant coach.

He then moved to Stanford University as a graduate assistant, working under Jim Harbaugh.

His NFL career took off with the Baltimore Ravens, where he held various roles, including defensive quality control coach, linebackers coach, and running backs coach.

He was part of the Ravens’ Super Bowl-winning team in 2013. In 2021, Weiss joined the University of Michigan as the quarterbacks coach and was later promoted to co-offensive coordinator in 2022.

However, his tenure at Michigan ended in January 2023, when he was fired following allegations of unauthorized computer access.
