On January 23, 2025, the Midland community mourned the tragic loss of 17-year-old Haley Jarosiewicz, a dedicated student and talented track athlete from Midland High School.
The accident occurred early that Thursday morning at approximately 6:42 a.m. on East Isabella Road, where Haley was driving her 2014 Chevrolet Sonic.
Haley was traveling southbound when she lost control of her vehicle on an icy, snow-covered road.
Unfortunately, her car crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 41-year-old man from Midland.
While the driver sustained minor injuries, Haley was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severe injuries she suffered in the crash.

Preliminary investigations indicated that road conditions and speed contributed to the accident.
Toxicology results are pending, but there is currently no evidence suggesting that alcohol or drugs played a role in this tragic event.
Witnesses at the scene described the events leading up to the crash. One witness expressed concern about the speed of the Silverado, stating,
“I was right behind the crash and that truck passed me going way faster than necessary! I was going 35 and he was going well over 50. After he passed me he hit her! She may have lost control but he was going way too fast! “

Another shared their heartache over the incident, noting how they had seen snow plows working in the area before hearing sirens and discovering the accident’s aftermath.

The Midland County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from multiple local agencies, including the Michigan State Police Accident Investigation Team and local fire departments.
Haley Jarosiewicz Was A Vibrant Member Of Her School Community.
Her academic journey began at Chestnut Hill Elementary School, continued through Northeast Middle School, and culminated at Midland High School, where she became part of the Chemic family.
As a track and field team member, she was known for her determination and spirit.
A coach remarked on her impact:-
“Haley’s determination and spirit were unmatched. She gave her all in everything she did, and she inspired others to do the same. She will be deeply missed.”

Her kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on those around her, making her loss deeply felt by friends, family, and classmates alike.

It has raised over $24,385 from community members who wish to honor her memory and assist those she loves.
Haley Jarosiewicz will be remembered for her athletic achievements, spirited attitude, and compassionate nature.
